Albion U-16 player Sebastian Ademola came on as a substitute today for the Norwegian U-16 side as they beat Hungary 3-1 in a friendly. He has previously featured for the Norwegian U-15 side.

It also happens to be his 16th birthday today - which is nice.

Sebastian will commence his scholarship with Albion this coming summer. He is one of five current Albion U-16 players who have represented their country, along with Tyler Silsby, Freddie Simmonds and Harry Howell for England and Adam Brett for Wales.

What's the deal with under 15/16 non British internationals? Have we signed them from overseas while they are still school kids? Or were they British based already - for example one of their parents is Italian/Norwegian but they were born and raised here?

There are not many players I can think of who we signed from "overseas" as a schoolboy. One is Even Ferguson (and through his mother he qualified as British anyway). Robert Sanchez might have been signed during his U-16 season; Luis Garcia signed during his U-16 season.

As regards, specifically, Cristiano Anah and Sebastian Ademola, I don't know where they were born but they have both certainly been in this country for a significant period of time (if they weren't born here). Ademola, I believe, attends school in the Eastbourne area.

Currently UK clubs can’t sign anyone under 18 from abroad unless they have UK citizenship. Most of these players are British based already and eligible for other counties through their parents and grandparents.
