Interesting - a slip or genuine?

Maybe I missed something but I know he’s just committed to the club until 2030, has he confirmed that he will be leaving for definite at that point?

As on the pod he referred to potential future plans and paraphrasing a little but he was talking about how if we had the Caicedo/Mac Allister money in every summer, yes transfer spending would go up but;

“if we were doing this (bringing in huge transfer fees) for a decade then I suspect Tony and myself - well it won’t be me because by 2030 I won’t be here! - but I suspect Tony will be under pressure to…”

Curious.
My take is different to those expressed so far: I read it as saying "I have a fixed term contract that expires by 2030. It would be presumptuous of me to assume that Tony will necessarily want to give me another contract at that point"; ie a touch of expressed humility. Note the word 'expressed' ;)

Can't blame him. He could take retirement now, couldn't he? If I'd earned the sort of wedge he had (and he has most definitely earned it), I'd spend my retirement doing sports tours following various English/British teams around the world, drinking champagne (in pints) and doing lines off of strippers' arses.

Done a Frexit, now in London
Ambitious, driven people don't look to retire. He could go on another 10 years after that here, or elsewhere.
He would be a good person to have in the independent regulator for men's elite football though.

I fear for those having to sit through his retirement speech
It will probably be something like this :

“First of all I would like to give all those on North Stand Chat, and those fans who keep bombarding me with with complete inane and trivial questions about nothing of any consequence, one gigantic F*** OFF! The number of late nights I have wasted on composing mind numbing email responses to those complete gormless tossers really has done my head in.
So, adios you muppets, I won’t miss you. Right, I’m off to watch Spurs for a bit of light relief.” :bigwave:

I vote @Zeberdi purely based on wordcount :laugh:
I think my content is not too shabby but thanks for the vote - It’s good to be the favoured candidate for somthing 😜

Reckon PBOBE will take early retirement- contract out his executive services or do something entirely different and buy a vineyard in Tuscany (and have RDZ over occasionally for pasta )

You’ve just described how @Thunder Bolt is spending her retirement.
