Terribly sad news, he was mighty in the gory years, and a dedicated fan through and through, Thoughts are with his family and friends, RIP Nigel.

Oh my word. Yes it is who I thought it was. He was a splendid chap. I remember him from many away games in ancient times. I never got to know him well, but he had a really warm nature and friendly aura about him. Never took himself seriously and was always good company if you found yourself with him.

RIP

Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!
Am I mis-remembering, or was it a Kinsman style dive into the North goal?
RIP Nige
Yes, that was him. He slid through the north goal mud, whilst his huge shorts didn't get past the starting line!

Really sad news.

Little Nige came to my wedding, lovely fella.

I’ll always remember him for the nonstop laughs we had on a weekend trip to Belgium with the Ham football team.

RIP Nigel, Albion legend and all round good guy.

RIP Nigel, didn't really know him personally but have met hime a few times via mutual friends and knew of him, and crossed paths on occasions in the bang average old days.

I think Nige knew more people than anyone I’ve ever met. It took for ever to get anywhere at times
I wish I could tell some of the stories but it’s not the right place really. Get to his funeral if you can and you’ll hear some great stories

Didn't he lead the fans across the pitch and into the West Stand at the boycotted Mansfield game? The re-taking of the Goldstone!

RIP Nigel.

Oh bloody hell, no. I hadn't seen him for a few years and I knew he was ill, but that is still very sad news. What a character. I first met him what he was about 12 in a talent contest at Butlins! We'd both won our heats and were in the regional finals. He was singing songs from Oliver! He actually had a very good voice, which of course he used to great effect in later life to berate players, officials, opposing fans, etc.

Sad, sad news. RIP Nige. :(

Just from reading this thread you both had dodgy press passes in common!
