Maybe they just don’t keep the ale very well then?
For the purposes of NSC it would be a whole lot easily if they changed their name to:-
McWetherspoons.
Then posters wouldn't have to write identical complaints twice!

i'm curious how those that never frequent a 'spoons can know how bad the beer is.

Wetherspoons is alright. It does a job for a pint of corona (as an example) or a rum.
If people genuinely want to pay more for a nicer place let them. I don't really get the drama and the hatred.
If I want one lager and spend 20 minutes somewhere, am I going to spend £6 somewhere else because of the atmosphere? Probably not. Maybe it's different if you're on a session.

I feel the reasons I gave are reasonable. And there are usually good alternatives nearby.Maybe you're a bourgeois snob who DOESN'T EVEN LIVE HERE.

No problem with Wetherspoons. There's a couple I avoid, especially the old one in George Street, was a dive. But I think any pub that would have been there would have been the same.
Do a decent breakfast (or used to) - full English, and a pint - £5.50 last time I had one. What's not to like?

I'm not ashamed to say I use them but for specific purposes.
1) When away on business in a place I travelled to for many years, it was a couple of minutes walk from the hotel on the way to the town centre where the eateries are. An ideal opportunity to unwind and discuss next steps etc. with my colleague over a cheap round of drinks each before moving on elsewhere.
2) Away with the misses visiting her families empty property in the SW which we need to do regularly for insurance and maintenance purposes. We get in the 'Spoons at opening and have a blow out breakfast and coffee, juice etc. for about £14 total. Sets us up nicely for the day ahead.
I will use the one at Gatwick - last time was with my boy on our way to the RWC2023 but there aren't really any other realistic options except that wanky looking Caviar Bar or whatever it is called.
Serves a purpose and tbh I don't care about the owner's politics, that is his business. Does anyone saying otherwise ask their plumber or window cleaner etc. how they voted in the referendum before deciding to pay for their services?

I know people who won’t drink in ‘Spoons but will happily scoff Nestlé products and buy a new iPhone packed with cobalt every year despite both companies being guilty of a lot more than having a different opinion on Brexit.

On the carpet point, did you know every spoons has a unique carpet? I've got the book. Admittedly because I sneered about the clientele to a colleague of mine at work who bought me it for my birthday. Honestly, if you can't sneer at the people in the one at West Street, who can you sneer about?

It’s great. A lovely beer for Sunday evening. Bottle Logic is a US brewery, I am sure you can find their beers in the UK. The make different styles which are all good BUT their stouts are incredible.Looks good, assuming it's not available in the UK though
