Brighton factually.....
two e/w bets just because.

Delta Work
&
Latenightpass

Zero chance of even getting my money back, I might as well have thrown it in the bin & set it on fire.

The current design of the whip was developed with input from the RSPCA. The whip is foam-padded and energy absorbing, comprising a composite spine with a polymer surround, encased in thick foam padding.

They're not the western style lasso that the Lester piggotts used of old, and there are strict restrictions on how many times they are used with draconian bans if breached

one death is too many in horse racing and I have previously struggled with jump racing because of this and am much more of a flat racing man but they have made massive efforts to reduce the likelihood of this, and considerable efforts for this race alone too to the point it isn't really the test of endurance it used to be

Mr incredible 14=1 if he doesn't mess about
The simple fact that, as you say, the design of the whip has changed and and the use of these has been legislated on only goes to acknowledge that their use is cruel.

On the face of it flat racing should be much safer for the horse than races over obstacles. Take a look however at the link I posted and the number of horses that just "fell dead", "broke down", "collapsed" etc. whilst racing on the flat.

Racing only exists because people like to place a bet and the industry generates so much cash. I don't dispute that there are many people involved in racing who genuinely care for and love horses but in the end the fate of most of these animals depends not on them but on those with the money.

Eldorado ran a respectable race for a 100/1. In the leading pack for the majority of the race.

No injuries reported which is great

If there were co-drivers "encouraging" the driver to go faster by hitting them with a whip then I'm sure there would be vociferous calls for motor racing to be banned.
Horses aren't put on this earth to be raced by humans, they get no pleasure from it, have no comprehension that they are actually in a race.

So when a jockey falls off and the horse continues to race and jump the fences why is that?
Not defending whipping or even racing.

Of

It bothers you, don't watch it. Do you need to lecture those that enjoy it?
The same could be said about many cruel " sports" - fox hunting, bear baiting, hare coursing etc . Thankfully the civilised majority has recognised the immorality in these activities and taken action to try and end them.

If it weren't for the money involved then undoubtedly the same could be said about horse racing. The more often the cruelty involved can be exposed and the public made aware of this the sooner changes will be made.

The one positive for me today - a sizeable win when placed at 10-1. The only plus of a disappointing day.

As I posted earlier, it is simply survival instinct. As a prey animal you stay with the herd in times of danger. Continuing to run is a sign of stress not enjoyment.

I Am Maximus. Wow.
Where the f**k did he come from??? Half of the race my 50p e/w's were in with a shout, then my £1 wins of Delta Work and Kittys Light looked they might get me some cash back, then he just came from nowhere! I was watching a body of slow moving water on the pc, the race on the TV, sat in the middle of them both, no mention of him in the top 5, then as soon as the commentator finished saying the top 5 he was just there, winning!!😮
Double blow of the last £1 I had in my betfair account I put on Brighton to have 12 shots on target at 100/1 and it didn't happen!! 😭
