To be fair the Discoverey+ mobile app was pretty impressive. Watched one game and then alerted you of goal in other and one click to watch replay of that and then one click back to your live game.

Totally agree, and as anyone who has the misfortune to sit near me knows, I‘m not a huge fan of our refs. I thought the City Madrid ref was fantastic, he never bought the histrionics from both sides and let them serve up a cracking game of attacking football.

Curiously having now watched the front on angle replay it does make it look like the keeper hangs his leg out a bit. However, from side angle it clearly shows Saka thrusting his leg out. Even funnier since had Saka had been honest he might have got the decision.

How glorious would that have been if given? Arteta's head would have exploded
Where was VAR in that? OK - maybe an error by the defender, but then you could say that about all misjudgements leading to free-kicks / penalties?
Munich manager said it wasn't given as the ref said it was a kids mistake

Saka is a cheat. Arteta is a cheat. 99% of them are cheats. Someone needs to properly call them out. VAR should be able to tell the ref to book the player. Sometimes I don’t know why I bother with this sport.

You'd usually expect the games at this stage, first leg, to be cagey affairs. But both of these were absolute BANGERS.
Have UEFA finally made a decent decision in binning off the away goals rule ? It would appear so. The fear-factor has been removed, leading to more of a straight shootout.

You can kind of see what the ref is saying. It's soft and ridiculous in a game of this importance. However, the counter argument is that according to the laws it's a penalty and the ref should not be making subjective ' for the good of the game ' decisions.
It makes you wonder why a Arteta has been uncharacteristically quiet about the Saka penalty shout. Is he just quietly seething or keeping his head down as he knows they got away with one. Just maybe he's given Saka a rollicking for trying to cheat when it was easier to try and score?
Does it matter what game it is? Can refs decide what games are important?
Its like the argument about booking a player early, if its a booking its a booking

No. That's what I was saying.
The away goals rule should have been removed the minute the back-pass rule was proven to be a complete success (about one season after it was introduced). In my opinion, the risk of boring matches through gamesmanship and cheating was greatly reduced from that point onwards. People complain of time wasting now, but in those days it was on another level. I'll never forget Uruguay 0-0 Scotland in 1986 where Uruguay needed a point, had a man sent off early on, and spent the entire game passing the ball back to their keeper. It was shocking.
Anyway as such, the away goals rule is no longer relevant and arguably you could say the same about 3 points for a win in the league.
My brother in law had £10 on Bayern HT / Arsenal FT @ 30/1 or similar. He's probably not a huge fan of Saka right now!
Really weird one this. Arsenal's best defence - although it doesn't prevent it from being a penalty - is that he simply hadn't heard the whistle. In those circumstances, it would be great sportsmanship to accept the explanation. It's not as if it made any difference to the game or Bayern were about to score.
Ah 'sportsmanship'.. there's a long forgotten concept.
