As a squad, too much of our senior first team experience is injured, added to which (while I’m hugely encouraged by Baleba’s recent performances) we’ve not got the quality we had last season in the middle of the park.

To my mind we’re about where we should be, suggesting that the coach is doing a decent job given the players that are fit to play and where they are in their journey back to full match fitness/sharpness.

I’m not happy about losing, but losing to the league leaders is not something to get too worked up about unless we’re genuinely in that fight ourselves. We’re not.

With the potential that we might strengthen ourselves rather than weaken ourselves over the summer, and the reality that our youngsters will have a better idea of what’s needed to compete, I’m optimistic about the future, even if I’m not optimistic about the run in.

Weird game - never a 3-0 - all 3 officials biased as f*** - didn’t create enough - Arsenal nowhere near their best - Arsenal fans embarrassing as always til they scored 2 - sang a Liverpool song to celebrate 🙌
I thought 3.0 flattered us. Arsenal didn’t need to play their best, they never got out of second gear and still beat us easily. They were so solid at the back, we never looked like scoring. They’re a brilliant team and I think they’ll win the league as they’re a more complete team than City and Liverpool.

We just do not have the quality to break any teams down who defend low block. Arsenal just sat back and waited for us to make mistakes. We passed the ball around nicely up until we threatened the box

The ref won it for Arsenal in the first half, a shame as we were playing pretty well
we're never going to get anything if we don't/can't score

Unlike recent years bottlers, the Arse have finally gone full shithouse Spanish . . . better than most but definitely 3rd place, I really hope they screw it up again.

Arsenal look a completely different team to last year. They are now the Athetico Madrid of the Premier League. They are very solid in defence, constantly break up play with irritating fouls, time waste, wind up the opposition and rely on occasional but effective attacking moves. It’s not pretty on the eye and they get a lot of help from referees letting them get away with their antics so hopefully City or Liverpool pip them to the title.

On reflection on the Brentford game and tonights and looking at our run in I have accepted just finishing in the top half is the best we can expect. Europe is gone. It’s been a fabulous season and a half but the season ended with our naive capitulation in Rome. Lots of excuses available for our current form but the downturn was inevitable because of them.

I’ll be pleased when the season is over and we have lived through the close season, which will be interesting. We go again next season with or without Roberto, hopefully with a wiser and more pragmatic but equally enthusiastic version.

Champions League is what I am expecting next season

Always a dreamer at the start of every season

I’ve left early precisely once in the Amex era as a season ticket holder - Burton in the promotion season, when it was so cold I lost feeling in my fingers. However today I was very close to leaving with 20 mins to go as I was so bored of what I was seeing.

We’ve scored 4 goals in 9 games since Mitoma got injured and it’s clear RDZ has no plan B. Great manager when working with the conditions he wants but the true greats adapt and he’s been found wanting so far in 2024.

Will make it all the more funny when City pip them to the post again :lolol:

Having just watched highlights just how poor was Enciso for the crucial second goal? Misplaces the pass and then is too busy waving his arms to notice and perhaps track their runner round the back who squares it for Havertz.

After reading a commetary of the game and this thread, I think I will give the replay a miss today. This season is over now, will see what happens in your summer.

Same story again. We miss a player with the ability to find gaps like MacAllister did last season. Gross does it and Gilmour sometimes can, but MacAllister consistently found the right ball at the right time at a faster pace. I think Buonanotte has the potential to grow into the 10 role next season and Baleba needs more games to build his awareness. The future looks bright. A bit of defensive coaching wouldn't hurt as well.

He was like that for most of his time on the pitch.
