Come on... we created a good number of goal opportunities.... finishing is shocking... nothing wrong with the approach play at all, even without Mitoma.
Good summary, Welbeck should have buried that at the end

Defences were on top, not one for the purists. Needed to give the goalkeeper the eyes in and around the box, and show good feet for a big man.

As it was, we needed it to put it in the mixer back stick, early doors into the corridor of uncertainty for me, Clive.

Not sure there was any actual filling in that game - not even ham.
It doesn’t help with De Zerbi throwing himself around and slumping in his seat every time something isn’t 100% perfect. I know he demands perfection but his reaction to Veltman missing that chance with his left foot was poor IMO. He’s a right footed defender who narrowly missed a left footed shot in the attacking third and De Zerbi looked like someone had snapped spaghetti in half in front of him. Bit OTT which maybe alludes to your comment about being scared to do the wrong thing.
Did you see him when Bart took a rare long goal kick? Really quite annoyed.

Thankfully only one thing was missing from the game and that was a 93rd minute sucker punch, take 4 points off another team over the 2 games it matters not who and you're not doing much wrong, not a classic was it,but that's a point in the bank and we've not lost any ground on the 2 teams above us vying for 7th place.Cheer up FFS.

So frustrating not to have the creativity, particularly out wide, to break teams sitting deep. Without getting round the flanks we resort to either pounding a brick wall or taking long shots. No criticism of Brentford, they are guarding against relegation so a big point for them.

1 point better than. None

What's mildy amusing is, it took Solihulls finest over 2 years of meh, bland, a little tedium, and the odd 'school disco, got lucky in beige slacks' of Potterball to get to a 10 game period of lovely football with goals and wins, then . . . Just as his dogs turds were turning to gold . . .he f***ed off . . . . . . . . RDZ turned up, added parmiggiano and Emilia-Romagna . . . BOOM, 'Calcio sexy' pissed all over everything in spades and a GD to spare. Bobtalian Greyhounds shit purest green!

18 months later we're playing Potterball.

the sign of the best, or better coaches/managers is sticking around long enough work that all out and to take it to the next level.

Tomas Frank is more likely to get the Liverpool job than RDZ.

I really hope RDZ stays, to prove himself, and take us on an even better journey . . . . Thats at least 2 years as we won't qualify for europe this season . . . . . . . . If he's not committing to that then off ye f***, and in TB we trust.

One of those games where there were very few 'should've's' and 'could've's'.
Never really under any threat and it's a shame we didn't come away with a very, very crucial 3 points.
The main thing is, they're not a crucial 3 points in the same way that they were, just a few short years ago.
These 3 point would have put us in 7th place...after a not great season.
I'm not depressed, just a little disappointed. UTA.

I mean if there was any game that you predict 0-0, it would probably be this one.

They seem dead scared to loose the ball.
Yes, losing the ball with only two players back. Brighton build up, inviting pressure then cut through with several passes. If there is no clear pass or pressure from the opposition they will go back to build with more players, as like you say losing the ball with everyone forward is risky.
Yep, he managed to miss 3 big chances!👍
Missed? One was a super block by Ajer. They weren’t big chances. We only created about 1xG total for the entire game.

Shame we didnt win but after watching Brentford outplay Man Utd with 25 plus shots a point not bad. Was surprised to see Brentford at home defend in numbers and rely on long balls to the 2 forwards.

I'm on a coaching training path and had this come through tonight. Might see if Mike fancies a day out in Lancing.

If don't think the ref called full time so much as euthanised the match. A happy release.

They were happy with the draw. Defended deep at home.
It’s where we miss Mitoma.
Let’s not be too harsh though in that we are disappointed with an away draw, when the opposition outplayed United at the weekend.
This. Incredible how far we have come (LOL). Brentford (2024) are a decent Premier League team who a few days ago, against Manchester United, set all time records for attacking domination. We reduced them to holding on for a draw.

Absolutely! Exactly that, of course. It's time the dinosaurs realised that kicking the ball into the back of the net is basically old-style hoofball, with a bit of gratuitous hormonal excitement about it. FFS, football has moved on - tonight was a beautiful game of passes - forward passes, backward passes, sideways passes, intricate but ultimately pointless interplay between players. Come on! - what more do you want?
Players kicking the ball into the back of the net? Pfft - watch The Big Match Revisited if that's your level of football appreciation!
