Indeed I can’t remember that happening in any other VAR call for the referee to visit the little screen

Crikey … just seen Baleba’s dive in, in our box, on their counter attack chance. If their player had done the modern thing by going down with a trailing leg, nailed on pen. Naive by both players.

Agree not enough by itself, but you have to put Dunk’s reaction into the context of why he was doing it - because Wissa wrapped his hands round Dunk’s waist. You say it’s not enough of a foul, but is it a foul or not?
Pretty clear that Dunk didn’t ‘start it’, whatever one’s views on pen or no.
It wasn’t a penalty but it’s bloody typical that the one time the ref goes to the screen and doesn’t give a pen it’s us…

It shouldn't be normasl stuff, it's all contrary to the rules. Hugging and wrestling is for egg chasing. Having said that, everyone cheats and ius allowed to do so.
How many got over excited and did a little sex wee thinkling Jao Pedro was going to get to stroke one in?
VAR got it spot on.

Dunk definitely did not start it! Vissa grabbed him, Dun pushed him off, Vissa grabbed him again and hauled him down. Should be a pen.
Wissa not watching the ball grabs Dunk. Happens all the time but I would argue Dunk can do what he needs to to get away and actually attempt to play the ball. If the referee sees the Dunk foul it would be interesting to ask him what he thinks Wissa was doing.
They allow those. In the same incident, a player did that to Igor the entire time.
The dumb rationale is always “Well, if they gave penalties for that, there’d be penalties every ten minutes”.

Haven't seen the pen up close (I'm at the game) but if it's so marginal what on earth is VAR doing getting involved? Especially as the idiot on VAR duty for the Chelsea Burnley game couldn't spot that it wasn't a pen and didn't get involved. It's just so inconsistent .

I enjoyed that first half. Could have been better, but it wasnt on par with Halifax v York last night !!
