My first time at Brentford. How do folks usually travel back after an evening game ? Is Kew Bridge station ok or is it better to walk to Chiswick Park tube station ?

Brentford site says that Gunnersbury doesn't open until an hour after the game and has a short platform.

Depends where you’re going after the game. Kew Bridge is best for going back to Clapham Junction and then connecting train to wherever southbound. Kew Gardens or Gunnersbury tube stations (District Line) back into West and Central London.
Planning on Kew Bridge but like Fulham the right answer depends on if you want to head south from Vic or Clapham Junction

Maybe a dumb question but what is wrong with just a train back from Brentford to Clapham Junction ?
It’s a half hour walk the wrong way?

Because it’s the same line as Kew Bridge to Clapham Junction. Why walk for 20 minutes to Brentford when you can amble from the ground straight onto Kew Bridge station.

Always splits the room on here, but from years of working there if you want to get to Clapham Junction quick it's counterintuitive.
Walk to Gunnersbury and go the opposite direction out of London (7 mins) to Richmond on either the Overland or "Underground" then jump on a fast train to Clapham Junction. Since it's all overland you can either get on the district or the overland which share the same track.
On arriving at Richmond, the SW trains to CJ are just on your left as you get off on the same concourse and very frequent.
They are either fast or semi fast stopping at one station. It's the train to Waterloo.
If the station is busy stop in here first

Gunnersbury >> Richmond >>Clapham Junction is the thinking man's choice.
Most people are travelling back into London from Gunnersbury. Not as many going to Richmond because it's the end of the line for both the District and the Overland.
A fast train from Richmond to CJ is 10 mins. Even a slow is something like 15 mins.

Great assumptions going on here, some of us need to alight at Waterloo to then perambulate to Waterloo East and await the fast Steam Locomotive to East Sussex.

Hastings Line ? Good man, Waterloo East my station of choice to get to Etchingham. Never trust someone who gets on at London Bridge or Charing Cross they are fools.
Indeed. I live between Robertsbridge and Etching ham. Normally get on at Robertsbridge as I can park in the Ostrich Pub car park. I would love them to change the Wadhurst station signs. Wadhurst Station, to Nowhere Near Wadhurst Station.

Indeed. I grew up here and am done here tonight somewhat randomly.
It's actually
Wadhurst (for nowhere near Wadhurst)
Frant (for nowhere near Frant)
Etchingham (we should have built it in Burwash, sorry)
Stonegate (or as we used to call it "St Ones Gate") because only one person lives there.
I wonder if this area is somewhat unique in the construction of the railways. They used to bring housing and business, but as you know in this part of the world everyone buggers off and lives elsewhere.
I'm still amazed by Tunbridge Wells a forerunner for the Underground with a tunnel at each end of the platform and a climb up the hill to "street level".
St Leonards is another gem for rail replacement buses which take you "there". They stop on the seafront.
Bexhill back to London ? Do you enjoy a scenic but less direct route sir ?

I would suggest many of these stations were paid for by the gentry of the area, little regard to joe public. When the steam railway is fully open it will give the area a huge boost.

I normally jump on the 65 bus from Kew Bridge to Richmond (takes about 10 mins) and then pick up the overground to Clapham from there. The bus stop is actually on the bridge
