Hi All,

Heading on a last minute trip to Cyprus next week (we were supposed to be going to Devon but realised the cost was the same and, you know, sun!)

Thought I would make this a more general recommendations thread as have previously had great advice for other places and it'll help others.

Have previously been recommended CICAR for the Canaries, so any recommendations for Cyprus please? Good value, including insurance, and not out to scam you ideally!

Take out collision damage waiver insurance before you go, it's MUCH cheaper

For about £40, you can get annual CDW and excess cover for hire cars. If you plan to hire a car more than once a year, it maybe worth looking into

I have previously hired 4 or 5 times a year for both work and holidays and always start at arguscarhire.com

Dont use hertz. Crooks, in Italy at least

If you’re going to Cyprus, buy a Cortina when you get there, use it, send it home. Sell it when you get home and you’ll possibly end up with a free holiday

Get a quote from Holiday autos or one of the other multi-agency sites, then go direct to the website of the best deal and you’ll probably get a better price. I always check pick-up locations too - and avoid any that are a shuttle bus to miles away if I can.
