Same with me nearly five years ago. I found I wasn’t enjoying alcohol and also that I found the next day harder if I had a few (not even rat arsed).

I didn’t mean to stop altogether but found that I wasn’t missing it so haven’t started again. I don’t drink the low or no alcohol stuff - if I wanted a beer I’d have a beer but I just stopped enjoying the taste.
exactly this almost to the word, i definitely don’t get involved in non or low alternatives either

Strangely over the last couple of years for no particular reason i’ve been drinking less and less alcohol to the point where i’m quite happy with soft drinks when i go out.

I’m 54, touchwood in good health and i use to love slamming the booze down. I’ve have never been told to knock it on the head and i use to feel quite worried many years ago if there was a possibility i couldn’t have a drink. Nowadays I’ll have one beer before a dinner out, somehow make that last the entire sitting and have water or coco cola for the rest of the night. I’m just not that fussed anymore.

For some reason almost like someone has flicked a switch i really don’t get excited or even enjoy drinking alcohol now, i know some people who struggle with the amount they drink would love this conundrum but i wondered if anyone else has crossed this pathway.
Exactly the same. Just not fussed about booze anymore.

Never bothered with the alcohol free options.

Happy with a cup of tea.

If you ever wake up in the night feeling thirsty, check with your doctor.
No matter how much alcohol I drink, I still feel thirsty in the night

Same.

I drank so much pre uni, during uni, and directly afterwards.

I went travelling around the age of 30, had a lovely time and drank loads, but came back and decided to make some life changes, which includes cutting alcohol right back.

I’ll still drink in some situations, but I can very happily go months without a drop and have zero regrets.

I loved drinking during my pub, club and holidays with mates era, it lasted 25 years  . But I was never a drinker at home and never missed booze if none of those happy events was happening. Booze was a means to an end ... the craic with mates and inhibitions gone.

My drinks of choice outside of that were always water or soft drinks. I don't like the initial taste of beer, I hate wine.

So my drinking has naturally faded to next to nothing.

I do like a couple of G&T's on the odd weekend, the last about a month ago when a bottle of Hendricks ran out :lolol: .

In the larder we have unopened for years bottles of wine and Champagne, and cans of lager.

I’ve always liked a drink now and then, but came back from holiday last year (where I had been drinking at meals and between) with hives and itching down arms. I took antihistamines for a fortnight and it cleared up. I drank at Christmas and it all flared up again. I think at 70 I have suddenly developed an alcohol allergy! I haven’t had a drink since Boxing Day and feel fine.

I haven’t really drunk for years really since I stopped going to away games with the boys don’t miss it one bit. The occasional Peroni when I’m out for dinner is nice though.

I've not drunk a drop for at least a year. More than happy with that. My medication gives me enough of a buzz :ROFLMAO:

In the past you’d rarely find booze in my house as if i/someone else bought i’d drink it, these days i’ve got booze from two Christmas’s ago loitering around, it’s just very weird that i have lost interest in drinking much these days

I don’t see my new found love of not drinking a concern I just find it a bit strange that i’ve gone from being a heavy social drinker and at home, to not drinking at home at all and only the desire for minimum consumption when out 🤔
I can go weeks without a drink which makes the times I do drink that much more enjoyable.

I greatly reduced ‘drinking’ when the first born came along and never really got back into it as they got older ….. also hangovers get worse as you get older.

I don’t think i’ve had an hangover of any merit for at least two years, if i have a couple of beers nowadays i feel rotten 😂

I've cut right back on drinking at home. Used to have a case of something on the go but for the last year I just don't fancy it. In fact my case of Speckled Hen I purchased for Xmas 2022 for visitors took until late summer to finish off. I buy the odd bottle when I go out (nice beer from Home Bargains last week), but not as much as usual.
As I rarely go down the pub and social drinking isn't something I do any more. Pre-match Harveys on match days and a couple at away games keeps me going.
