The number of migrants who have arrived in the UK after crossing the Channel has reached a record high for the first three months of a calendar year.
According to provisional Home Office figures, 338 people arrived in seven boats on Tuesday, taking the total for the year to date to 4,644.

They all are for better or worse. There has been only been two game changers in my lifetime. Thatcher 1979, and Blair in 1997.
The rest were a bit rubbish. You've either got a very dominant party with the opposition in tatters or the end of administration waiting for next one to come in.
Labour will win the next election and probably be in for decade. Eventually they will f*** up and the Tories will be back in

It's similar here in East Sussex (Uckfield). One of the roads near me has a long stretch that's been breaking up for a while. They keep coming back and doing bodge job fixes and ignoring other bits that are clearly going to need repair imminently as well. They did at least finally give in and properly patch repair part of it ... but when they did they left an area about 2 metres long between patches that had already started to break up. It's a nice long, narrow divot in the surface now, with loose material in it, that would be extremely dangerous for any motorcyclist who doesn't see it for any reason. Was expecting it to be repaired the other day when I saw a crew out filling a much smaller pothole nearby ... but nope, it's still there.
Edit: Eff me, it gets worse. The long pothole ... they're aware of it, it was inspected on the 22nd, confirmed to be repaired "within 28 days". Guess what? It was the 22nd that I saw the work crew there repairing the other hole. Why they didn't just do it while they were there I don't know - surely it would have been cheaper to just do it while there if the inspection said it needed to be done?

Although I agree with the rest of the post, for me sadly, I think 2019 rates up there with the other two biggest game changers in terms of long term effects on Britain, albeit in a far shorter timescale
The growing support for Reform UK is actually frightening - people who think that the Tories are not Right-wing, nasty or toxic enough.
Or who think that what Britain really needs is more of the same policies as pursued since 2010, but implemented 10 x more cruelly and aggressively.
I fear we are blindly following Trumpian America down the dystopian rabbit-hole.

The workmen will only be able to complete the repairs that are on their job lists. It is the morons drawing up the job lists who are to blame. The fact the council employs somebody to go round and "colour in" the potholes has always been a mystery to me. What a waste of money. I've seen potholes coloured in where the paint has disappeared before a repair is made.
The potholes in Worthing are the responsibility of WSCC (as opposed to the Town Council). West Sussex CC is........stand by for no surprise whatsover......Tory.
If the potholes get much worse, The Clamp won't need his digger. We can plough the Tories straight into the potholes

Two things on this spring to mind.
1) Given the scorched earth policy that the Tories are leaving behind it will take longer than one parliamentary term to put right and people might not have the patience to give them a second term.
2) It neednt get into that cycle if parties could work out how to regenerate their leadership and front benches whilst in positions of strength, rather than wait for them to get totally exhausted and disliked by the public leading to them losing elections. Clearly if a party changes leadership whilst in government the public should have the right to vote on that, if not immediately then in a specified period of time. This might give the new leader a chance to refresh their cabinet and continue in power with public support.
Or maybe not.
