[Brighton] Anyone for a McDonald’s?

I hope you weren’t referring to my post above - now deleted in case it was wrongly interpreted!

That would be a really twisted interpretation of a suggestion that too much junk food can literally shorten your life span - processed meat is a known cause of bowel cancer (among other cancers) cardiovascular failure, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, fatty liver disease, obesity linked diabetes etc etc

No one deserves to die but unfortunately unless eaten in moderation, you literally could.
No it wasn't.

Is Maccies healthy nutritional grub? Course not but if you on the poverty line it probably provides what constitutes eating out. It next to impossible to eat out for cheaper. I don't know how a happy meal costs in.

They also do a lot of community stuff. We've played football teams - under 11s at the time - that only have a kit because of Maccies sponsorship. Looking into that, they've provided loads of cash into grass routes football.

There are a lot worse companies than McDonald's out there from a corporate social responsibility point of view.

My word, this has turned out better than I could ever have imagined.

FWIW Maccy’s food is awful shite but it won’t stop me scoffing a double sausage and egg when hungover or a Big Tasty when they’re on.

Now, can we return to the point and recommence laughing at chavvy bellends with hair extensions and people who think it’s ok to take their small children for junk food at 9pm on a Saturday night?

Fanks.

This is NSC. Unless you hug trees, drink craft beer, cycle everywhere and agree with whatever the left of society tells you to you are fine to smugly criticise anything else ‘normal’ people do as freely as you want 🤣
Don’t forget to also profess to hate the England football team.

No way Pedro - I'm calling bullploppies on that.

This has turned out EXACTLY THE SAME as every other thread title containing the name McDonald's - and you absolutely knew what you were doing.

And yes I am jealous 😂

The poor little child trying to usher one of them out at the end. 😞
Yep, that's tragic.

I shudder to think what some kids have to put up with / witness.

I was at soft play last week (with my nearly 3 yr old, not just as a weirdo on my own) and there was a woman there with two boys of about 5 or 6 and 4. They were more interested in play fighting each other, which all seemed fine until the 5/6 yr old pinned his brother with his knees on his chest and proceeded to rain punches down on him MMA-style...

What kind of psycho lets a kid who's barely primary school age watch MMA?!?

Still in Brighton
Happy to admit when I want to feel dirty I go and enjoy a Maccie Ds and I do enjoy it's weird shiteness too. Everything in moderation and all that. My only caveat is that I avoid just after school/college kick out times....

For balance, I watch this vid occasionally to remind myself to eat whole simple foods as often as possible.

He'd probably been watching it on his phone, unbeknownst of the parents.

The Marina Maccies is the second worst one in Brighton, always massive queues and the subsequent threat of violence. Worst one has to be the one on Western Road though, junkie central.

If they hadn’t tried to help give them two free happy meals?

Politics is the art of the possible.

1. You have a world view and a vision of what the UK should be, and want to make a difference. You stand for parliament.
2. With your party, in committee, you make some policies to reflect that
3. You do some focus group stuff to check this will receive votes
4. f***'s sake. The Electorate want the moon on a stick. Better schools and hospitals, lower taxes. f***'s sake!
5. Redraft, somewhere between your vision and the greed of the venal electorate
6. Try to sell it even though you have major reservations about some of it. OK a lot of it. I love the hustings
7. You get elected. Hooray!
8. Now you have to find a path between what got you elected (what the voters think you manifesto is) and what your backbenchers think.
9. Voters not happy, back benchers no happy.
10. Crack on to the next election.

And, as I always say, we get the governments we deserve.

Glad you are a labour man, even if you have to hold your nose from time to time.
It is unavoidable
Having only read the first page then jumping to the last, how did we get to this point in the conversation :lolol:

A few of recent reviews to the restaurant in question …..judging by a few posters I’m surprised the first person is still alive 😉

Another bad experience
Another long wait of 40 minutes which only resulted in my order coming after asking staff where it was. I’ve been to 100’s of branches over 30 years and hands down this is consistently terrible
Date of visit: March 2024

Just awful !
Worst McDonald’s I have ever been to !
Rude staff !
My meal was just slung at me at the counter.
….and a cold burger and fries and chemical taste to the Diet Coke.
After one mouthful it went straight into the overflowing bin!

This Franchisee should not be allowed to run this place.

If I went down that route I’d start to get serious 🤣 You are correct of course though.
