Thanks all.Everyone has run ins with their teenage kids (and I was that age in 1979 and did dreadful things, far worse I suspect than your son)
He'll make you proud yet (but maybe not in the next 2 years)
He does make me proud most of the time, the boy is a worker and pretty low maintenance.
I realise he is not alone when I say, he just can't mix beer and football.
He becomes deeply unpleasant and worst of all a bit of a 'hold me back' merchant.
Inexplicably we must have been stood next to 3 fights in the away stands this season, most noticeably palace. Despite being stone cold sober he's instantly buzzing the moment it starts, which is the rush he's chasing.
its sad we won't watch home games together, esp as it's only a few games a season, but for those game within 5 mins of kick off I just want to go home as he's unable to reason with.

As far as I’m aware a FBO is a civil order so it doesn’t come with a criminal record. Breaching one is a criminal offence though which can result in upto 6 months in prison.
They can be applied for without any criminal prosecution or conviction taking place (like it would appear to be the case here because the offences took place in France so would have to be prosecuted there). Obviously if they come on the back of a criminal conviction that conviction may show up on a visa application or DBS check.
They can come with some very severe restrictions, other than not attending football matches anyone subject to an FBO may have to surrender their passport during international tournaments, could be banned from using public transport on a match day, and may not be able to enter town centres on match days because of the potential for violent disorder.
Maybe it’s specifically about gangs from Hoolingdean.

Some people who are unable to behave at football matches have been banned form attending football matches? Sounds like a good thing all round to me. A bit harsh? Tough!

Am I reading this correctly, does the guy who head butted another Brighton fan get no actual punishment for his offence ( other than banning order ) and pays less costs than the other 4 mentioned who actually didn't make any physical contact?.

It wasn’t a prosecution, it was an application for football banning orders against the individuals named in the article. No criminal trial took place as the events happened in France, it would be up to a French court to convict them.

It's an unpopular opinion but the casual/hooligan culture is incredibly attractive to young men and not just the brainless idiots you'd expect. The comradery, socialising, fashion and the adrenaline buzz.
I feel like its quite a complex behavioral trait, more like a condition and doesn't mean he's a thug or a "twat".

I don't know the blokes involved, but it seems the evidence is this video, and that Police Officers have had their eye on one or two of them. I think the evidence should be stronger to curtail someone's liberty and squeeze them for £1700.
There could be a video of the lads stabbed in Rome, which may show them fighting back to a degree, if that then gets posted on a Hooligan site, they could be in trouble. It seems that depending on what the Police think they know about the people involved, they could receive a hefty "costs" bill and a banning order, regardless of whether they were attacked and defending themselves and others, or not. I think its a dodgy bit of law that allows these banning orders, and significant financial penalties to be applied, on such flimsy evidence.
Sad but goes for a lot of kids especially in bad times when you cant easily get a rush from positives. But usually turns out alright. Also we cant have beer and football really there is sometihng in our drinking culture that turn us violent and destructive. UEFA didnt ban English clubs for fun they did it because it was 100% necessary
I'm sure it'll turn out fine - tbh one biff on the nose should sort out the situation.

There are extenuating circumstances beyond either of our control driving his pursuit of this particular 'high', and other influences that don't help the situation.
The bit he can't see (because he's 19 and a twat), but doom and gloom dad can (because he's so pessimistic and a twat), is everything he stands to lose from the aforementioned bunch of fives.

I do think it's understandable (though not necessarily justifiable) when they get that first rush of testosterone at the same time as their first few beers in their late teens. If he's still doing it at 25+ then I would start to worry and if he's still doing it at 30+ then unfortunately you've bred a twat.
If he's still doing it at 22+ then you'll see me on the 6 o'clock news saying:-
'He was such a lovely quiet boy, he never showed any sign he was capable of such crimes against humanity'.
As all of Sussex shout "Bollox".
