It's not something I'm going to get upset about, but it's not the Saint George's Cross any more. is it?

The Union Jack is sometimes depicted in a different colourway, but it's still very clearly the Union Jack as the design is unique and iconic.

If you take a cross and change the colours, it's just a cross in different colours.

The St George's Cross is our flag, its a symbol of England and Englishness, it unites fans of different clubs behind it. It doesn't needed rainbowfying or a "playful update" defacing from a US sports manufacturer.

Where is the playful update of the multi coloured and distorted Stars and Stripes?

As others have mentioned that is the thing people should be getting outraged about. TBH when I first saw the design (on this thread) I didn't even know it was supposed to be an edgy, radical, woke take on the cross of St George. Was there even one there on the back of the old kit? I neither know nor care. The price though ...

And now I see Starmer is getting involved, but is it to complain about the outrageous price and the exploitation of both the workers who make them and the cash-strapped parents who will be guilted into buying them? No, he too doesn't like the design and thinks there's votes to be had by complaining about it. No wonder Owen Jones left Labour.

EDIT: I think it's quite a clever move by Nike. They knew what would rattle the most cages. Even if they'd priced them at £200 I bet people would still be moaning about the cross motif on the back.

'Our colours are red white and blue'. No, Peter, the England flag is just red and white.
