... a new answer: Johnny and Thom want to experiment within songs more when they play live. This is another way of saying improvisation and also provides another explanation for Tom S's presence -- in contrast to the 6Music and Roundhouse gigs, they were much more experimental in how they performed their new Smile songs, some of which was planned, but there was the odd obviously impromptu moment (on Thin Thing?) from their reactions. They all seemed to be enjoying themselves too (which you don't always get from Radiohead gigs).

We were a little further back from where you were and got a good view of the three (four) band members- the addition of the screens above would have helped anyone struggling to see. It was great to hear the album tracks live, I was a bit worried that people would be chatting over the quieter moments but there was none of that and a noticeable lack of phones. The new tracks sounded good, the second one ventured more into Radiohead territory than anything else on the setlist. Didn't have a clue what the first encore song was but Tom introduced it as an old number so guessing from one of his solo albums? I agree with what you say about the Brighton Centre- when the sound is spot on it works and you could really be anywhere. Get it wrong- and its a bad night out.

Saw Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark last night, in Bristol. Have always liked them, but this was the first OMD gig I've been to. They absolutely rocked, and the new album is brilliant. The support band, Walt Disco, were also fantastic.

Saw noisy shoegazers bdrmm a couple of nights ago. Fantastic set, can't help thinking that they deserve to be bigger than they are.

Great support from DEK, loud, innovative dance-influenced electrogaze duo.

Are you referring to “the one some of us might know”? I thought it was an unreleased Radiohead track as opposed to a solo.

The popular Friend Of A Friend was my favourite.

Anyway me and my 15 year old son enjoyed it.

Tonight it’s the Hundred Club to see Ovlov.
They’ve been my favourite band for the last six months. They sound a bit like The Pixies.
(In contrast to Monday, the ticket was £17.50)

Saw Oneohtrix Point Never tonight. A fantastic artist and performer.

Amusingly there was a small model of his stage setup on stage, with a puppeteer operating the doll of OPN..this was projected onto the big screens instead of OPN himself.

A novel arrangement. This is an act I am not at all familiar with but will have a look.
On The Nick Cave front I have managed to get tickets for Amsterdam and Lisbon. Support acts are Dry Cleaning and Murder Capital
