Back in the day, we had a substitute.....that I never saw play. Ever.

Name that man:

How this oaf played 3 for us is unfathomable. I saw them all. How many OGs was it? Goal gifts through being shit, I remember 3 including 2 at Bentford. What a shocker. A nutcracker cluster. A Spock's trumpet. A one-legged man at an arse-kicking party. A chocolate tea-pot. A rubber bicycle. Captain Robert Scott's batman. Disraeli's gear.

Emeka Ifejiagwa? On loan from Charlton but turned out to be unable to work in the UK or something. He played twice for us according to Wiki.
He scored the winner at Barnet, but was then nicked for domestic violence a couple of days later and the next Saturday he had to report to a London Police station at 3pm as part of his bail conditions, which wasn’t ideal for Brian Horton 🙈

Later turned out he was part of a scam marriage scandal, allegedly put together by John Fashanu, later reported in the tabloid press.

One sole Albion performance that’s sticks in the mind is keeper Brian McKenna, replacing the injured Perry Digweed about half past two and we lost 4-2 at home to Middlesbrough.

Was at that game - Therry Racon ran the midfield for us.
Was a hot day on that terrace from what I recall.

I also have vague recollections of being hopeful of sneaking into the play offs as there were rumours Leeds might get deducted points.

Franco Massimo and Michael Mahone-Johnson for me. Massimo we had high hopes for but he disappeared off the scene. Mahone-Johnson on the other hand was one of the worst footballers I will ever see.

I've got a feeling Ian Muir is another one who barely played and I saw him too. Poor decision to let him go really, in line with the frequency of shite footballing decisions we were making at the time.

1-1 if memory serves. At fault for the goal coming for a cross and missing it in a Sanchez fashion. Played twice though according to wiki.
I remember joking about the USA's keeper being a twat and as convincing as Sylvester Stalone in Escape to Victoria and then a mate said 'What him?' and pointed to our new keeper. I think we expected his third appearance to be away to Watford, but he joined them instead.

Emelka was the new Messiah when we were desperate for one. Scored and put in two towering performances. Gutted when he had to go, until he made his debut abroad a little later and I think got a 1 out of 10 in the local rag.

Correct, he replaced, I believe, Alan Biley and later joined the Met, probably retired now.

He is a few years older than me but I remember fondly as a first former that he absolutely destroyed a PE teacher in a 100M sprint on school sports day. I think he was in the 5th form at the time.
An old Forest boy like me then. I was a year above him both in Tylor. He was very good at football and running. Unfortunately he had a bad injury hence only one appearance for Brighton.

One man came.

One game played.

Partnered Ben White in central defence.

Albion legendary status denied. 😞

Breathtaking showreel….

He is still playing so there is still some hope…..

Solely on (long ago) memory, around '72 or '73, we played a mid-season friendly at The Goldstone (against Luton?) My Dad (who AFAIK had never been to watch The Albion before or since) took me and my brother (same as regard Albion attendances) to watch - the only time I sat in the West Stand. Can't remember the score, or much about the game, but I think I can remember a youngster called Mickey Conway playing for us, who looked quite good to me.
Not sure if he ever played for us again (waits for my usual correction form AZGull!)
Micky Conway - wikipedia (he was our youngest league debutant for quite a while).

Very good article about him here from the Goldstone Wrap blog - Micky Conway

He was injured in a car crash while at Swansea which ended his career, so we played them in a testimonial match in May 1979:-

According to this he made the bench a couple of times but never played.
