Europe cost me about £15, which is my monthly TNT subscription as part of the wider Virgin package. I even walked to all the grounds (8 feet from the office chair to the sofa). Bargain, would do it all over again.

Cancelled a big trip across the US (now relegated to five nights in New Orleans) so funding wasn’t a problem. The US will still be there. Maybe :)

It's frightening. I done all four. Two were three day events and Athens & Rome were 7 day holidays with the wife. I used my card for nearly everything (Nationwide no fees) so I know what I spent.
My total outlay via bank statements was £4405 including travel, hotel and all food & drink. Being retired, I didn't need to take holiday time off.
With Marseille & Ajax costing around £650 each I could have cut this to £2600 I guess had I dumped the wife.
The pros.
I've never been to any of these cities before. Had a wonderful time. Will return to Amsterdam as it was so welcoming plus, now I see how easy it is to jump on a plane, watch out Europe here I come.
Cons
£4405 would get me two weeks on a sandy hot beach.
100% money well spent.

I went to three home games, couldn’t afford aways. So about £400

£600 travel to ajax at home. £75 3 tickets.
£600 travel to Amsterdam, ticket, ubers, hotel 2 nights, food and drink, £1k+ in total
£600 travel to athens, hotel £100, cabs £150, food and drink, £1k+
£200 travel to Rome, 2 nights hotel £100 , cabs £50, train £14, food and drink, £500+
So probably £3-4k in total. Let's hope we qualify for next year! 🙂

At least £1,400 in Rome for two of us, not a cheap city! But went for 4 days.

I probably couldn’t have done another one even if we had got through

Did Marseille and Ajax. Spent two nights in lovely hotels at both and ate in amazing restaurants the night before both games.

Cost me £0.

I do love a work meeting in Europe

Edit: actually I think I paid for my Ajax match ticket myself. So £30. 🙂

I did Marseille, Ajax and Roma away + Marseille at home (travelling down from the North East).

I’ve yet to do the full adding up for all of it, but I reckon somewhere in the region of £2,500. It was getting a bit of a stretch financially by Rome, but absolutely worth every penny.

The wife and I both put the hours in so we usually have a weekend away during the winter, we simply made that Athens.

Me and the boy went to Amsterdam. Booked flights in September, hotel in October and beer in November so that softened the blow. We only went for one night and as the boy’s only 14 we didn’t use the facilities in the Red Light District.

I’m getting on but for the boy the memories will last him a lifetime so it was money well spent.
Fortunately I didn’t need to but would have happily put it on the plastic if it came to it.

Ajax - maybe £900 all-in for me and junior
Athens - £350, used avios to cover much of the flight cost
Rome - £800 or so
Home games - £300 total

100% worth it.

For our European trips estimate about £4.5K with 3 of us doing 3 games (Amsterdam, Athens, Rome) with 5 days at each place. More than what we wanted to spend and could really afford, but agreed it was worth the money and would do it again. Given us the taste for European football trips and now talking about looking at some non Albion European trips next season including Union Saint-Gilloise

Likewise. We missed Marseille so need that for the set. USG’s a good idea. On a more local note, Rouen have a second division side that I’ve been meaning to do for a while and hopefully as a day trip and as a non league fan, Dieppe keeps flagging up on my feeds.

My dad used to work in internal audit years ago. He was free to plan to visit places whenever suited him. So trips to the northeast when Brighton were away to Middlesbrough on a Tuesday night etc were common for him. He never worked abroad and obviously Brighton weren’t playing abroad so he never got quite as glamorous trips as you.

When I started in internal audit the guy who led the team was a very keen marathon runner. Almost our entire global plan seem to be arranged around marathons

I prefer to look at this the other way round, so when you next look at how much your two weeks holiday is going to cost, think of it as "damn, I could have seen Brighton play 4 European away games in fantastic cites for that"
