I think he will stay because proper clubs like Liverpool will want a proven winner like Xabi. Clubs that chase the latest fad like Chelsea are the ones that will likely go after him but don’t think he will find that attractive. It’s not about money for him as he has made clear, it’s how he sees the future. I’ve said before that although our model is to part with a big money player each year last year was exceptional. We didn’t want to part with Caicedo but the player wanted to go and we were offered stupid money. Hopefully that doesn’t happen again and if we do keep most the players and bring more in I think he will stay. We’ll see and if he does go it doesn’t seem like the end of the world like it has done in the past. In TB we trust.

Stunned that so many people think he is staying. I'd be absolutely amazed if he stayed, personally.

He clearly hasn't been happy for a while, and I don't care what anyone says, Bloom and Barber WILL be pissed off with his constant mentioning of the transfer policy in public. He must be extremely difficult to manage, and there will be part of them that will be relieved when he does go. I'd be very surprised if we hired another hot-headed Latin Coach next, Bloom now has experience with two of them, and they've both had similar issues.

My guess is that Bloom's position is that he is going to invest in some serious squad strengthening in the Summer, and if that keeps RDZ on board then brilliant, but if it doesn't then that's fine too, as we know roughly who is likely to replace him and we'll have a really good squad and an exciting young Coach to go into a new season full of hope and expectation again. And if we stick with this formula then eventually the stars will align and we will eventually win a major trophy.

Perhaps he's always been like that and I just didn't care.
Maybe it's the blindness of others who are causing me to react.
Yes. The Cult of de Zerbism that precludes him of being capable of errors of judgement brings out the same reaction in me; I know it shouldn't but it does.

RDZ has had a lot of lessons to learn this season.

Returning RDZ 1.02, would be a phenomenal manager.
Without a reboot it could end up being a difficult season.

I think he stays one more season.

Media talk of a rift between him and Bloom/Barber seems largely overblown to me. I think they have a healthier relationship than many realise.

I kind of understand where you are coming from tbh. He's 'hard work' and high maintenance, which after a while becomes draining- both for supporters and players / staff alike I should imagine.
Yeah, I know what you mean, he's like a souped-up Gus Poyet on steroids. I'm still shocked though that people can say they're 'done with him'.

I hope he doesn't go, but if he does - where to? Has he really done enough to convince the top clubs that he's a good fit for them? His work before he came to us was very much 'under the radar' (most UK fans hadn't heard of him), so he comes to us, starts with a HUGE bang and gets us into Europe. But now is there a feeling that he's been 'worked out'? That he plays pretty pretty football but it can be stopped by a simple low block? Is he tactically good enough? Can he handle the pressure of a club like Liverpool or Man U? And most importantly - have I asked too many questions for one post?

He inherited an excellent squad of players built through patience and long term planning. He tells the club to up their targets (higher than top 10 etc) which they apparently do. If by that he expected TB to open his cheque book to sign all and sundry to meet those new targets then he was mistaken. He is now going to miss his own targets and appears to be hitting out at the club for that. Is that a harsh assessment?
For TB's long term vision to work he has to have managers that buy into that. Last year I thought RDZ was that man. Now I am not so sure.
It will be interesting to see what he does for the rest of the season rotation wise as if I were him looking at the longer term, Bart, Baleba and WBG have to start every game from now on in.
FWIW I think he stays for now.

I'm not that bothered whether he goes or stays.

What I am bothered about is.....who comes in after him...? Much more important.

Brighton factually.....
There are some major factors and important points that may deter other clubs seeking RDZ, the fee involved in taking him and he insists his whole backroom staff go with him, which is quite large to fair, we will have not just a manager to replace as well. He could walk, and I think he has shown he has that in him, to forego any monies owed to him, but he will have to factor in his backroom staff if he did that, he does not seem like the type of person to shaft his mates, family and friends seem to mean the world to him.

I think if he sat down with Bloom and they spoke honestly we could get another season out of him.

Either way, I am not that bothered either way stay or go, his lack of defensive tactics when required have cost us points and possible progression in two competitions.

He is wonderful and given us so much already, but it is pretty clear he has a shelf life at any club like many managers, he is stubborn and gifted, those two characteristics guarantee a car crash at some point down the road.

I'm certain he will be here at the start of next season...if this is what the question is. There is little evidence to suggest otherwise.

I think RDZ will leave if he gets an offer from a domestic or continental club with more spending power (even with P&S/FFP laws).

The Chavs might not be so attractive to managers who aren’t just chasing personal enrichment, due to the scattergun chaos of the Boehly era. Their record breaking spending must now come to a halt, there are no certs that they’ll win trophies.

This is why I think he stays for another year.

He can get away with not being able to keep clean sheets here because the stakes are lower. Kinda. But he can't get away with it at Liverpool where goal difference could very well be the deciding factor in them winning a trophy.

His tactical inflexibility is an issue as well. Not to mention that we seem to be entirely reliant on two players to produce any kind of attacking threat.

He's very much a "my way or nothing" manager. But if his way doesn't produce results at a big club which will be expecting results then it becomes dangerous for him.

Agree with a lot of this. I'd love RDZ to stay but also think his managerial genius is occasionally exaggerated. He's still learning and I'd like to see him be a bit more adaptable and sometimes pragmatic in his tactics. Roma and Luton both blew us away and a different tactical approach may have resulted in very different scorelines.

I'm enjoying the ride and the occasional heavy defeat is the price we pay for the expansive, attacking football we all enjoy. But the next stage of the project is surely to avoid being such a soft touch against certain tactics.

The 'worked out' thing is laughable. One thing I've really noticed in this country in the last few years is that people here don't really place any value on people learning things. It's always 'xxx isn't good enough, replace him with xxx' rather than thinking that now xxx has been through this experienced and learnt lessons, he will be much more valuable moving forward. It's like when people used to get angry when Potter said he'd take the positives and learn from something, as if that was somehow a negative. I find it really odd.

Probably over-hyped like Potter before him. Tho has the big balls Potter could never hope to develop. Will do very well elsewhere, but will not build much on what he's built here, on account of TB's neat and tidy limited ambitions for the club
