Half the dimwits that already give her a load of abuse won't realise she hasn't supported the prosecution and will give her more abuse anyway. You could say that's what happens with domestic abuse victims, police involvement can make it worse, especially if they go ahead without the support of the witness. The victim not supporting the prosecution generally indicates they're fearing reprisal greater than what they've already received.There is actually no such thing as pressing charges in UK law. You either support a prosecution (essentially by being a witness in court and talking to the police during the investigation) or not. Cases often proceed without an alleged victim supporting prosecution. The police gather the evidence that a crime has been committed, and the CPS decide whether to proceed based on the evidence provided.
In this case, if he is prosecuted, Abbott wouldn’t need to do anything.
