Something must be done about this. Yesterday was a joke and am sure Albion and other clubs are as bad. When we scored and the Moda tackle there must have been 7/8 players giving the ref an earfull. So easy to deal with Just book any player apart from captain that approaches ref

When we scored after their player headed into his own net, their keeper flapped and missed ball while trying to wrestle Moder to the floor.......
a few of theirs including Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs White surrounded ref, remonsrating and showing elbow to head motions which were clearly false.
They're simply trying it on and bullshitting in vein hope they can force a VAR review to over rule.
They should be booked for time wasting.

I completely agree with the OP. In what other sport do you see this level of entitlement and disrespect towards the officials ? And yes, BHA have been just as guilty on occasions. Pressurising refs to sway decisions has long been the norm in football, its just accepted. I would totally advocate a rule whereby the ONLY person who can approach the ref is the captain. Anyone else - mandatory yellow. You'll end up with some yellows to reds, but eventually these dickheads will read the memo and get the message.

We don’t need ‘new’ rules for the surrounding the ref issue. This is for current season. As is often the case, we see rules implemented vigorously at the start of the season … and then

Think it was more hopefully than anything. Obvious cockup from keeper and defender. The keeper then purposely falls to the ground waving his arms to save face & make people think there’s been a foul. After seeing the replays it was surprising VAR needed so long to look at it.

Players are invariably thick as shit. Tho they do respond well to changes to rules of the game. Make it an offence to surround the ref and they'll respond. Tho probably first without a mass red carding and possible match abandonment due to minimum level of players on the pitch. They'll soon learn

There was the standard jostling that you get at set pieces where everyone thinks they are a victim. Dunk ended up dropping to the ground and sitting in the middle of the goal, and some players "trying to get the ball" will have been obstructed by him. Looked to me like Moder was caught between the forest defender and the keeper, the keepr jumps over moder and hits the ball against the defender, and follows through punching the defender. I think it's understandable the defender assumed he was hit by Moder behind him, and the keeper will always try to claim a foul if a player is near him when he he goes for the ball. The players that couldn't get past Dunk, or were involved in their own jostling will also try it on (and remember they already feel like the referees are against them given the drop ball and probably some other decisions they disagreed with).

Because some of our players were NEAR their goalie. I was so ready for that to be disallowed, didn't celebrate it at all when it went in.
Rugby union is a dream by comparison. I know some say the respect for rugby officials has collapsed, but it really hasn't. Some bad-losers have started acting like babies at final whistle, but I don't think you see a gaggle of bullies surrounding the ref.

That's the rule in rugby and it works well. Captains are allowed to talk to the referee and request reasoning.
Nigel Owens used to be funny. I remember Chris Robshaw standing over him once and Nigel just wagged the finger 'Christopher !' CR then walked away.
A game with so much violence in it, yet very civil. And rugby refs get a lot more wrong. If there are some dark arts going on in the scrum they will often miss it.

I think the first player to approach - who is not the captain - gets a yellow card. Then for every 10 seconds after that, players get carded.
There's no excuse when a goal is scored that is disputable or a yellow card given that is disputable. Players know that VAR will be looking at it. Except for the captain, they have no reason to approach the ref.
In rugby this never happens. A player would not dream of approaching the ref. They know they would be off.
