The asset stripping continues...

"The Reading owner, Dai Yongge, is “open to the sale” of the club’s Bearwood Park training complex to raise short-term funds for the club.

The club statement read: “Mr Dai is currently evaluating every option at present to secure sufficient funding until new ownership is confirmed. In doing so, he is open to the sale of Bearwood Park, should an appropriate offer be received.

“Whilst dialogue with potential new ownership groups are progressing, as of today no single party has been granted exclusivity. Mr Dai, and representatives, will continue to liaise with interested parties and hope to move forwards at the earliest possible opportunity. Further communication with substantive developments will come as appropriate.”

Oh dear they really are in a right old pickle aren't they? Where will rhe team train if the sale does go through, the local rec?

So selling the training ground for short term funds, which will reduce the assets and therefore value of the club to any potential purchaser.

It’s asset stripping if he takes the cash out of the club, but if it goes back into the club then it’s not.

But, as we all know from dodgy owners, they are not to be trusted. I hope they can get rid of him soon.

I’m not sure why your post is being met with animosity by some. I would hope that BHA supporters more than any would support the exposure of poor club ownership.

I think it's a bit misguided myself, but people have long memories and remember Reading cherry picking Steve Sidwell and Steve Coppell because they had the infrastructure and we' didn't.

We were all disappointed to lose Coppell and Sidwell, but we lost them because Reading were miles ahead of us as a club at the time and could offer much more.

Did Reading do anything more than take advantage of football's pecking order? I bet they didn't want us to take Vickers either

This is about the running of a football league club into the ground. Whether we've had a few football related spats with that club shouldn't come into it

We really going to say Reading were "asset stripping" Brighton because 20 years ago we let our manager join them and they bought Sidwell from Arsenal (not us) and Ingimarsson from Wolves (not us) because we couldn't afford them?

It annoyed me at the time too, but saying Reading were "asset stripping" Brighton on a thread talking about how Reading are having their training ground sold by their crooked owner does seem a touch misplaced.

Back in the day when we first emerged out of the third tier, I remember Darren going on about the sound system at Wolves. I didn't go to that one, but I went up to Reading and thought their stadium, with a continuous roof and no f***ing stanchions (the absolute hallmark of div 3 and 4 stadia) was absolutely magical, and hoped one day we would fulfil our dreams and have something similar to call our own.

I can't rejoice about a club being f***ed over by an unfit owner. That would be weird. :shrug:

I’m assuming some on here will be as equally irritated if (unlikely I know) Chelsea were in a pickle and many of us didn’t give a shit about them either…
