I love those old-fashioned lifts. Looks as though you had an inner door though - I remember going in some that had no door, and you just had to stand clear of the 'moving' walls.

I acknowledge the joke - but it was fookin dangerous.
Only room for 2 people.
Our hotel reception was on the 2nd floor while the rooms were on the 4th and part of the 5th.
The room was as basic as you can get but the bathroom had a blast shower and we had a rooftop terrace
Yeah the coffin inside was proper old wood, but very coffiny.

That said, there’s enough general bellendery among our own fans described on here to make me pleased I didn’t go to Thursday’s game & take my wife (a STH too) which was our original plan. I guess some people hate it but I’m fairly happy nowadays with ‘sterility’ and safety. Just want to see a football match and enjoy it, without wading through piss, burning scarves, getting squashed or being abused by members of our own fan base. Had enough of that shit in the 80s (well, apart from Albion fans being arseholes to other Albion fans - don’t ever remember that).
Edit: No problem with a bit of ‘edge’ - football’s not rugby, thank God - but violence, vandalism, being more interested in the away fans than the game, nah.

Ooh. You can get a very nice pizza around the corner from Sillwood Street. Lovely Italian guy Nino. Keep an eye out for the moped riders though. They’re known as Deliveroo Ultras. Can move pretty fast and rob you blind. Be aware too that you could come under attack if you hang around in the street eating it. I've always wanted to visit Rome and after seeing some of these photos I'll definitely be having a holiday one day.
The football part of it looks / sounds f***ing awful though

I’d had a Potter ‘glow up’ especially for the trip.
The (wholly predictable) twattishness was easily avoided to be fair. Buses were actually fine, stay away from the plexiglass divides, don't bother going down to the steps until everyone has started moving post-match etc. Going for a piss was a bit of a challenge in the decrepit old stadium with totally inadequate facilities but apart from that it was alright. Plenty there with kids.

No thanks, I'd rather go to a nicer place, like I said, I had a much less depressing time in Blackpool. We're not used to ugly cities along the sea, in Italy: they're a rarity.

So the discussion started because portlock made a racist generalised claim about "Latinos" (ridiculous), as opposed to you, the "Brits" ("We're Brits, we're great, we're the best"). I’m sure I can waste time looking at the streets of Rome on Google Earth and find hundreds of scruffy areas, same as any city.
