No poll - there’s been plenty of threads where the overwhelming theme has been very negative recently about our Manager, the squad, individual players and the Club in general and after Roma, there will be even more I am sure. I for one am beginning to find our support for Brighton is becoming overly negative on NSC in the past few months and making it not such an enjoyable place to celebrate the love of my team that I have supported for over 50 years. .

I’m not making any excuses or pointing out where we are going wrong ( it doesn’t take a football genius to know that) but it would be really good to hear from other NSC members who like me still see so much to appreciate in our current squad/management/the way the club is managed.🙁
Yes. I could've told you that weeks ago.

I think the big picture still looks really positive.

We have a lot of very decent young players and this season has been great experience for them, however the rest of it turns out.

We have the basis of a great team, I think it’s kind of a middle year, we are rebuilding which is a shame that it coincides with being in Europe but still, if we can keep as many players as we can for next year and develop them, we will be in for another exciting season.

Quite, we are not bottom of the fourth division

We’ve had a bad result in such a big important game, of course people are going to be disappointed and it’s still raw. The team can score goals. If we can shore up the defence we will start picking up results again.

Good post - we haven’t had the depth this season to be really competitive in both Europe and the Premier League (and having a nightmare number of key players out) - many smaller clubs have found themselves dropping right down the EPL table in their first European competition so we are doing well to be in the top half still imo.

I’m very excited too at what we have seen from Hinshelwood, Facu, Adingra even Valentin Barco already... Pedro, Lamptey, Van Heck have really improved overall as has WBG this season.

I am already looking forward to next season when these players have matured even more and when we have March back and who knows what exciting prospects will blow in on the summer transfer window.

As you touch on, a team with our sustainability strategy (combined with an excellent scouting system) of buying cheap and selling high will go through down seasons while the team is being developed, especially if key established players are not available to play for long periods) . I think we are in a good place as a club.

It’s fine to be pissed off at tonight’s and previous weeks results/performances, while also having a thread about providing some perspective within that.

We’re little old Brighton, and we’re complaining (quite righty so) about losing in Europe. If you’d offered me that 20 years ago, or even 5, I would bite your hand off.

Annoyed about tonight, it’s a tame end to a grand European tour, but boy am I proud of this group.

UTA.

The Avenue then Maloncho
I was gonna start a thread called “Didn’t we have a nice time?”

Firstly, can we do a MASSIVE (against Peterborough)?

Ok, unlikely, however personally im gonna be out there singing til my throat is sore. TNT sports are not showing my seat to the world empty.

Fifty years I’ve supported the club and always wanted to get to a cup final. We’ve had SEVEN this season, some we’ve won some we’ve lost.

Re:them Palace wankers, taking the piss about fans getting knifed. Scum, end of.
taking the piss about us losing tonight? Laughable, we achieve their fuckin dreams, we entered what looked like a Champions League group and not only qualified but WON it. They can dream on.

Dunky, a great servant, if not great, the greatest.

De Zerbi, I hope he stays til the end of time.

Yes, I’ve had a drink.

Good night x

Which first team positions would you improve on with signings this summer? Also bearing in mind cover for injuries.

It depends a bit on what RDZ wants doesn’t it? (assuming he is here next season). Probably up front to allow Ferguson some space to get back on form again.

I would have said DM but I am not as convinced as some that RDZ wants to play with one tbh. The players we’ve tended to be linked with have been the lighter gross type player and not so much a Caicedo replacement and I don’t think that’s Bloom and Barbar being daft. If he wants one though, then one of them.

Right Back, Lamptey is injury prone and we need to rotate with Veltman.

For me - what an experience fantastic stadium and atmosphere. Gutted a bit the knock out stages came when we are in our most difficult period confidence wise and didn’t do ourself the justice I know we can. Game was quite even tbh from my opinion. Difference solely in taking chances. They were ruthless we were not. What I’d say is I love this club and as a Brighton fan just live the dream. This is a squad that is a few additions of achieving more than last season in my opinion. But even if I’m wrong what a journey

I see Lamptey now as a creator, the first goal tonight highlighted his defensive failings.

Gutted about tonight but it’s been a great European adventure and if won’t be our last.

It’s all part of our learning process and we looked pretty good in parts. They ended up playing like Villa, now that’s embarrassing. Looking forward to getting them back to Brighton. Maybe stab a few of them :ROFLMAO:

Our season's basically over now. We're not gonna get relegated, we're not gonna qualify for Europe, we're out of all the cups (okay, technically we're still in the Europa but come on).

That said, I remember when Leyton Orient were our sort-of rivals and Nicky Forster was our star player. And don't get me wrong, he was awesome for us. But this season's supposed failures were beyond my wildest dreams in those days.

So what now, now that all we have to play for is that one single point that will take us over the 40-point safety mark? Personally, I want to see us preparing for next season from right now. Baleba and Verbruggen need to play every game that they're physically fit to play; it doesn't matter if they make mistakes this season, we've got nothing to play for so we might as well get them up to speed for next season.

And I'd like to see RDZ getting crazily experimental with tactics. He - and we - might as well use the rest of this season to try stuff out that'd be too risky when we're actually playing for something.
