On th eplus side

I'm glad I didn't piut the £100 bet on us making the final, to offset the costs just in case we made it.

Welbeck had three really good chances. If one of those goes in, it's game on. 4-0 was not a fair reflection and the dodgy VAR call killed the game.

Ridiculous VAR call but not sure about the 4 goal difference not being a fair reflection: it was men against boys for the most part - they barely had to get out of 2nd gear

Gutted to lose in this fashion.

RDZ - thank you for getting us here but you are so f***ing stubborn. Please stop rotating the keepers. Please think about defending for once.
Steele - shit for goals 2 and 3.
Dunk - we can't compete next year with him and just JPVH
JPVH - so poor for their fourth
Veltman - had to start this game surely
Gross and Gilmour - as class as they are we've missed the physicality of Moises and Ali Mac more and more every minute.
Enciso - not fit enough should never had started. Fati looked good for a change. Shame we won't need him anymore as he isn't as effective in the PL.
Welbeck - not good enough in front of goal. How many chances do you want?
Worse bit of the game was Ferguson taking it off Gross toes at the end of the game on the edge of the area.

Roma were so much more efficient and incisive than us but aren't all that. The only positive from tonight was the insane offside third goal not impacting on us going through or not as we could concede a goal or two in a blink of an eye.

The biggest shame was losing to Wolves last week. RDZ starting up front wit Fati?

This game was little different to Marseilles away. Gave away two goals in a hostile atmosphere. Only difference last time was that we converted the chance presented at the beginning of the second half to pull it back to 2-1. If we'd done that tonight, could have been all so different. We created enough first 60 mins of game to have scored at least once.

Just really have to suck that one up!

we were up against one of the power houses of Italian football and we are a team who can’t score goals apart from against really poor sides.

we have our 15 minutes of fame in the group stage and nothing will take that away from us.

it is not RDZ fault that we , when put though or the ball put on our head, cannot hit a barn door with a banjo. He said he wanted more players in January and the management of the club decided that they knew better and didn’t back him. He will now go and we will look back on his tenure as one of mostly pure joy.

you cannot lose Pedro and Mitoma ( and march ), enciso 90% of the season and Fati for 3 months as well as losing and not replacing Mac Alister and Caciedo and expect the rest to step up.

The trick is now not to have this season fizzle out. We have some big games coming up and we need to be up for them.

that said, my chelsea ticket will be on the exchange as golf competition season starts in a couple of weeks.
The season has fizzled out.

We either had to win the last 3 league games
or beat Wolves in the cup
Or get through this tie.

We have missed all of those targets.

I just sometimes wish that we don't look like conceding let alone scoring a goal. RDZ has HUGE answers to questions imho

Regarding the VAR call for the third goal, why is it dodgy? I saw it was close but so far have only seen the one angle with the lines drawn. It's hard to tell from the only angle they have given on the TV but presumably they drew lines from a better angle?

I thought TNT were saying there has only been a view with 1 line drawn.

Don’t worry though we’ll give him another 5 year contract to allow us to enjoy him missing many more chances for years to come!
I don't think he could've done anymore with the headers to be fair. Done brilliantly to get up for the second. I thought the shot to the left was poor, but together with Lamptey, I thought he played well othwise.
No one at the back post for Lamptey's cross in the 6yd box was shocking, particularly considering the players are told not to shoot outside the box?!

Would love to hear a good explanation of how that third goal got given.

2-0 is very different to 4-0.

I don’t think we’ll overturn it but I can see us going 2 up at home and the atmosphere ramping up when we do!
Unfortunately Roma will do everything to break up the game and stop the Albion getting any sort of rhythm going.
Italian game management, something we are rubbish at.
Notts Forest are probably licking their lips
