Mate, when one of our own, who many of us know, is in hospital having been stabbed last night with absolutely no provocation, I, for one, do not want to read some nonsense about knife crimes in Sussex.

Roma away has been notable for its danger of being stabbed for many years. Brighton away, less so.
Indeed. This week the kid who stabbed that other kid on Queens Road last year was convicted, and it turned out the chap that died had a £20K drug debt and was down from Croydon that day to appear in court in Brighton. That is in absolutely no way comparable to an Albion fan getting an unprovoked attack and stabbed by Roma fans in Rome at a Europa League game.

Sky news reporting on it now

Two Brighton fans have been stabbed in the Italian capital ahead of a Europa League match with Roma, local media reports.

The pair were attacked just after midnight in the Monti neighbourhood by a group of seven people wearing masks, according to La Repubblica.

They received stab wounds to the legs before their wallets and documents were stolen, it was reported.

Police attended and are investigating, La Repubblica said.

The two, aged 28 and 27, were taken to the San Giovanni hospital and the Umberto I Polyclinic for treatment, Corriere Della Sera said.

Brighton play Roma in the first leg of the tournament's round of 16 match at Rome's Olympic stadium on Thursday afternoon.

I’m all good, my arse hurts, but I’m DETERMINED to make the game. Thank you for the concern from all.
Bloody hell. Glad you are ok.

Absolutely horrendous news Jack, hope you make a swift recovery and are ok for the game chap. I also hope you had travel insurance!
To add to this if anyone needs some advice about travel insurance stuff let me know as I work in medical assistance for travel insurance.

If anyone gets injured/ill and needs to go to a public hospital take your passport and EHIC/GHIC. If you don't have an EHIC/GHIC then you can apply for a provisional replacement certificate by calling DWP or online at

https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/get-healt...nt-abroad-provisional-replacement-certificate

You'll likely need your national insurance number and an email that the DWP can send the PRC to for the hospital.

Roma's a club I've traditionally had a bit of a soft spot for, and I've been really proud to see how welcoming Brighton (the club and the city) has been to visiting European fans this season.

But after this, I hope we do absolutely nothing to make the visit pleasant for them. Keep them in the stadium as long as possible after the game, screw up all their transport plans, feed them exclusively ham & pineapple pizza. f*** 'em.
