Although we knew it could happen, it's such a shame that you can't attend a football match without the possibility of this sort of thing happening. Hope the OP makes it to the game and not too much was stolen from him.

Sorry to hear that Jack, hope you recover and get to the game OK.
Cowardly fuckers, makes me so angry, I imagine they would wet themselves if they got a punch in the face.
And later on we will all be herded like cattle, have ID checked several times so we can sit in the ground and have fireworks, coins and all manner of other shit lobbed at us. Whilst they just stroll on and then come to the Amex and be treated nicely. Does feel like a piss take.
Despite all this I am looking forward to tje game!
We were going to walk up and then back after but may get the buses for the return journey. A pain as we are nearer the ground then the drop off point and on a 07.00 flight tomorrow but not as bad as a literal pain in the arse.

The club will claim it is criminals and not Roma fans. If it doesn't happen at the ground then it's difficult for UEFA.

This is not a 'European' problem as I keep reading in this thread, it is an ITALIAN problem. I've never heard of this happening in Germany, Holland or France for instance.

The concern is that a few of ours will be looking for Roma fans in Brighton next week now. Please don't, as UEFA would of course take a completely different view of this if it were the other way around.

Me and my son had a lovely chat with Jack as we were shepherded into that car park ahead of being taken to the AEK away game. Lovely chap and my best wishes go to him for a speedy recovery and a safe return.

Let’s hope any victims of this scum make a quick recovery. I do think there is some rose tainted vision with some of the comments, given knife crime in the UK is at an all time high. Would be interesting to know the stats for the Brighton area in 2023.

How is it 'obviously'? Sadly tourists get pickpocketed and mugged all the time in Rome. It's just more obvious and more likely if a large crowd of football fans are in town.
I agree with you but no chance could UEFA PROVE this is football related. Roma would argue it was miles from their ground and on a non-match day.
