This does not answer the question but Málaga, with a city population of over half a million, are knocking about in the regionalised 3rd tier of Spanish football. Impressively, they're still getting crowds of over 20,000 in a league where some teams don't get 1000 through the gate.

Similar with Deportivo La Coruna.

I mean you have to? Otherwise what line are you drawing to decide that a soccer club is not worthy of being defined as a soccer club? Is it not disrespectful to do that? The line would be arbitrary and could easily just be anything outside the EPL as well.
No. I accept that no parameters were set, but the people who've replied to the thread (as Thunderbolt did with Newcastle) have worked on the assumption that the 'other' city team(s) must be at a certain, admittedly unspecified, level in order to qualify. If you take it to the Nth degree then the answer to the original thread title is - there isn't one. As has been pointed out even the Vatican has two teams and our local 'little' city, Chichester, (7th smallest in UK) has at least one other senior side as well as Chichester City, plus numerous pub teams.

So in order for the thread to make sense there has to be some sort of cut-off point.

And I am saying it's disrespectful to do so. It's the same as ignoring soccer before the EPL or any tend outside it out the big 6.

Ok, well we'll have to disagree then. Although I'm sure all park football teams in say, Newcastle, will be flattered by your view that they should be viewed the same as Newcastle Utd!

No, it isn’t.
So you have no problem with the amount of attention some clubs get over others? How Brighton highlights and commentary is secondary at best to coverage of some banal event at Liverpool or arsenal? If that's true at least you are consistent.
Shall we call Brighton a city with no clubs as they don't have one of the big 6 there? Is that not disrespectful?

Viewed the same as in they are a soccer team registered with the football authorities. Yes.

I have no problem with taking a throwaway question on an internet messageboard in the spirit it was intended rather than being a pedantic weirdo for no reason, yes.

You can say Brighton is a city that doesn’t have a football team if you wish. I won’t care because quite frankly on the list of things that matter to me, your opinion (or this topic in general) isn’t close to the top tbqh. Especially as; if we’re being needlessly pedantic, Brighton isn’t a city.
