I got a grade 3 O level thanks to Mr Ross, bit we never 'spoke' Latin. We learned it like a cipher.
We had to learrn it at Steyning.

I have an O level in Latin but never thought I'd ever need it. That was until I was with a mate staying in German household (we were at a trade fair and because of a shortage of hotels, lots of visitors stayed at people's homes). I speak perfectly good German but my mate didn't, so rather than let me translate, the host insisted on speaking Latin.
We had a very stilted conversation over the breakfast table as we struggled to recall Winker Watson's lessons. JRM would have loved it

I did Latin at O level in the late 70's - only got a B so pretty hopeless.
