[Albion] De Zerbi: 'We deserved to lose...I understood the problem in January!"

Villa strengthened and look at them.
Yeah,. I’m looking at them. 5 injuries, only one more. Different class to us. God knows why RDZ is linked with so many clubs, while Emery quietly goes about his business building a resilient squad and getting consistently the best out of his players with not a rumour about him. He failed post Wenger but that was tough pass.

At a time when we are missing out top scorer, plus wingers with a combined 35 goals or assists last season, and play Roma away on Thursday night. Insane.
Yep, if our recruitment in the summer/Jan is part of our problems (again let's keep these in perspective) then our injuries are a far larger part!

What I find strange about his comments:

1. He is linked with Liverpool job if they can't get Xabi Alonso.
2. Klopp wins League Cup with kids despite injuries.
3. RDZ bemoans his lack of squad depth and gets thrashed again.

RDZ is a good manager but if he wants to be an elite manager he has to take a leaf out of Klopp's book and back his squad to the hilt and remain positive. Where is the passion, the inspiration we saw at the start of the season? I think some chairman will be looking at his performance and having some doubts.

That said, it would not surprise me if he and Fati deliver vs Roma. Dunk needs to step up again, as he did vs Palace.

I suspect TB and PB had had enough of RDZ in January and are saving their powder for the next manager in the summer after RDZ has f***ed off.

Bielsa was a star for a season and a half, but once he was found out, it created Leeds relegation.
This is the really exciting part

I bet they have someone incredible lined up

If we get mullered in Rome it could get messy!
I'm struggling to work out if this is a serious post, or a sarcastic one intended to highlight where we are as a club. The mere fact that it could be serious is quite something.

I'm disappointed with how things have been going of late My albion mojo is really low, I think my general football mojo is quite low. I would never try to shut down criticism because of where we were in 97. But I see comments like that and... I don't know.. It doesn't lift my mojo or stop the disappointment, but it does something.

I just hope they have someone lined up who is not as unstable as Poyet and RDZ just because there are a few problems.

The Villa squad has cost £600m, possibly 3x or more ours.

Again, there’s “blame” on Bloom here. We will only ever play possession football, regardless of coach, because we want every team in the club to have that philosophy. Hughton went when we sat back instead.

I actually think TB is spot on, but I don’t reckon we’ll have a pragmatic coach for a while, as a result.
Bloom knows his football. I think he’d gladly accept short term pragmatism in the midst of an injury crisis. That’s very different to Hughton’s PL negativity, which provided a foundation but wasn’t going to take us further.

I can’t believe some of the comments on this thread!

he is right… we didn’t replace a World Cup winner and Cai our midfield engine from last season.

that wasn’t de zerbi’s fault, that was the fault of the club‘s way of doing things. “ if you want to leave, no matter how vital you are to our team, you can go”

this has got us to where we are. If we win in Rome it will all be forgotten…if we lose then voices from here will be no doubt calling for his head. Be careful what you wish for

We won’t win in Rome and I won’t be calling for his head. It’s quite ridiculous we’re playing in Rome really, so who can moan if we lose?!

At the end of the day we can't go and throw money here there and everywhere. Yes, we've had an awful injury list but so have some others Newcastle being a prime example. Others have had injuries. United bemoaned they had 4 or 5 out and struggled Wolves and West Ham also. Villa have had 2 or 3 normal 1st teamers out all season not the injury crisis we've had. We can only have a squad of 25 players and when 8 or 9 of them are injured what else can Bloom do?. We don't have the resources of the big 6 to accommodate 25 Premier league ready players.

Yeah, I guess the 'bad patch' is relative. This current bad patch also sits in the most successful patch of our history.

Which is kind of my point

The Villa squad has cost £600m, possibly 3x or more ours.
Not sure about that. It is valued at £620m but that is because of shrewd buying and enhancement of value. Watkins was £30m; Diaby and Torres about £90m, Tielemans FOC, Ramsey academy, Luiz £15m. All are valued at £50m plus now. That’s not buying, that’s enhancing value.

If RDZ wants a moan I’ll moan back. WTF was the defensive set up AGAIN? Out LB is always in no man’s land. We ship simple crap goals game after game. That’s not good management

We’re in a really weird place just now.

We’re a few days away from the biggest and most exciting away game we’ve ever had, yet the general vibe feels a bit down doesn’t it?

I guess the frustration is still pretty raw after the last couple of games. Once people have a few sleeps on it I am sure everyone will be back and at it for Thursday.

As mentioned though another poor performance against Roma and who knows.

He does obviously think that. The broader question is - is it actually, within reason, true?

Everyone can come up with their own conclusion really can't they, but there is no dictionary definition of being backed.

Although a synonym might be 'sounds better than it being my fault, for future propserity'
At the end of the summer yransfer window many on here were saying RDZ was not backed.
