[Albion] Important information for fans travelling to Roma

KEY POINTS

1. Tickets will be emailed over coming days for print-at-home
2. Shuttle buses will run from 3pm - 5pm from Piazzale delle Canestre
3. Post-match hold back for c60 minutes, then shuttle bus to Piazza dei Cinquecentro, near Termini rail station

We have held meetings with the Italian Police, AS Roma and UEFA in preparation for our match in Italy on Thursday 7 March.

All times mentioned below are in Central European Time (CET), which is one hour ahead of UK time.

Overview:

The fan meeting point for free shuttle buses is Piazzale delle Canestre.

• AS Roma and the Italian Police strongly recommend, for both speed and safety, that fans use the shuttle buses provided.
• Fans are advised to arrive at the shuttle bus meeting point from 2.30pm, with the first coaches leaving from 3pm and last ones around 5pm. Coaches will be in multiple convoys and will have a police escort, with the journey expected to take 30 minutes (but may be longer in peak rush hour).
• Turnstiles will open from 3.45pm.
• Fans are required to carry a passport or driving license, which will be checked at both the shuttle bus location and outside the away turnstiles (copies of ID will not be accepted). Tickets are be printed with names and details on, any ticket holders whose ID does not match will be refused entry.
• After the game supporters will be taken by shuttle bus to Piazza dei Cinquecentro, near Termini rail station.
• Expect a hold back of up to 60 minutes post-match for the fans in the visitor supporter seating.
• Street crime, including pickpocketing can take place in Rome. Be vigilant, take sensible precautions and have valid travel insurance. For safety advice please click here.
• Italian police advise it is better to avoid flags and colours in the city.

Tickets

The police and local authority have advised that tickets must be fulfilled as print at home tickets, and cannot be collected in Rome. Note that personal details will be printed on tickets and they will checked prior to entry to the stadium. Anyone unable to provide matching ID will be turned away.

Tickets will be sent out to supporters email addresses in the coming days, please bear with us as we await the arrangements for fulfilment from Roma.

A club travel contact line will be available throughout the matchday and up until kick-off for any supporters experiencing problems. This number will be promoted to fans travelling in due course.

While in Rome, supporters are advised to follow our dedicated X account to ensure they are informed with up-to-date information from the club, Sussex Police and Italian Police.

The official currency of Italy is the Euro.

Passport validity

Check that your passport meets these requirements before travelling:

Passports must have been issued less than ten years before the date of entry to Italy (check the date of issue) and be valid for at least three months after the day of departure (check the expiry date).

Passports issued before 1 October 2018 may have extra months added to their expiry date which will not be valid when travelling to the EU.

ID Requirements

Every individual ticket holder will be required to show their personalised match tickets alongside matching photo ID (driving license/passport only) at both the shuttle bus location and on entry to the away turnstiles.

Supporters unable to provide photo ID that matches the ticket holder details will be refused entry to the stadium.

Getting to the stadium

AS Roma and the Italian Police have confirmed the following arrangements:

- Free shuttle buses will be available for supporters to catch from the meeting point Piazzale delle Canestre. (This is a 15 minute walk from the central square, Piazza del Popolo. The closest bus stop to the shuttle bus meeting point is Victor Hugo/Museo Bilotti which is a two minute walk away.

- Tickets will be checked and body searches will take place before getting on the buses.

- The closest train station to the stadium is Ottaviano on the underground, followed by the number 32 bus, with a further 15 minute walk to the stadium. From Termini train station, take the underground towards Battistini and get off at Ottaviano. Then take the number 32 to Piazzale della Farnesina.

- Further security and ID checks will take place at the stadium turnstiles. Time will be required to allow for these checks and entry through the six away turnstiles.

- After the game shuttle buses will return fans to Piazza dei Cinquecento which is near Termini station.

Please note that Ponte Duca d’Aosta bridge and the immediate area around it should be avoided for safety reasons, along with the south side of the stadium.

Away Supporters Area: Blocks 50, 51, 52

There are 41 steps to access the away sector and then a further 70 to the back of the stand. Supporters will be seated by Police and stewards, and should comply with the instructions given to them. The segregation is made of perspex screens. Blocks in the away section that are immediately next to the segregation will be kept sterile.

Bag Policy

Only bags smaller than A4 will be permitted into the stadium. There are no bag storage facilities at the stadium. Supporters must leave bags at their overnight accommodation.

Flags and banners

Supporters should get flags pre approved by emailing supporter.services@brightonandhovealbion.com with a picture of the flag, its dimensions and a copy of the fire safety certificate no later than 5pm on Monday 5 March. Flags will be checked by stewards before admission and fire certificates should be made available on entry. No political messaging or flags of countries in conflict will be permitted. Flag poles are not permitted.

Prohibited items

Smoking and vaping is permitted in the stadium.

Leaving the stadium

Supporters will be held back inside the stadium for up to 60 minutes after the final whistle for safety reasons. Access to toilets and food and drink from kiosks will be available during this time. Supporters are politely asked to remain patient until permitted to leave.

Shuttle buses will take supporters back to Piazza dei Cinquecento (near Termini station) after the match.

Travelling Abroad with BHAFC

We are proud of our fantastic support and remind all supporters to act as ambassadors of the club and be respectful and considerate to those who live and work in the cities and countries we are fortunate to visit. Please do not place flags or banners on local statues or monuments.

Supporters are reminded that discriminatory behaviour which includes shouting, chanting or actions such as racist, xenophobic, sectarian, homophobic, sexist or anti-disability behaviour is unacceptable.

If you witness incidents like these, please notify a steward immediately.

The club reserves the right to indefinitely ban supporters found guilty of using discriminatory language.

Unauthorised use of tickets

Supporters are reminded that the unauthorised reselling or passing on of tickets is strictly prohibited and any fans found doing so will face sanctions.

Supporters who buy tickets for away games and then find they are unable to travel MUST email supporter.services@brightonandhovealbion.com as early as possible. Supporters who do not collect tickets or attend the match may face sanctions including being unable to buy for future away matches.

Having read back over Leicester fans and their trip to Rome, they were paying local shops a Euro or two to print them out.

Gotta love these rules. I think I'm legit... by two weeks. *gulp*

As I've mentioned before, when we were in the EU *sobs*, I once flew to Greece on the day my passport expired and, after a few questions at the airport, back after it expired. Good times.

A few points

"Print at home" FFS. No excuse for not being digital in this day and age

The coach convoy repeats Marseille. The early ones go off half full - no one wants to be at the ground 3 hours before KO - and the later ones no one can get on. Tube / Taxi / Walk as per Athens.

It's not ideal, I agree, but I guess the factors are...

- It's a journey across town in a busy city during rush hour
- buses need to be recycled - there's not enough for a single journey. After dropping off it will take them some time to get back for another group of fans
- they want people to arrive over a period of time as the checks at the stadium are multiple and thorough. It will be very slow. In all the reading I've done of other British clubs playing there, every single one has had fans getting in late, sometimes as late as half-time.

Anyone staying in a hotel (rather than an apartment), the hotel will surely print them for you for free.

I’m going to walk to the stadium, hopefully lunch on the way somewhere get there pretty early. Will suffer whatever carnage ensues post-match

One thing we should have learnt by now is it pays to arrive early…..especially if they will be checking ID.

I'll add that, purely by luck, we got on buses at Marseille at what turned out to be the ideal time. It felt very, very early but given the circuitous route taken and traffic closer to the stadium, a chunk of that time was used by the journey itself anyway.

And there are a lot worse ways to spend time than being in a world-famous stadium, watching it fill up, pint in hand whilst getting all the photos that you wanted.

Agree - I was the first of our lot (into the upper tier at least) in Athens and quite happy to sit and watch things happen……

I get the logic but from a practical point of view I neither want to risk the later ones or be there bright and early. I was also unfortunate enough to be on the Marseille fun bus with the BNP branch of bhafc and can't be arsed repeating that. I'll take my chances outside of the Venga buses.

Also means the 60 minutes after the game finishes will be a minimum if they need to be 2 trips or more.

Not sure that there is a huge difference between drinking at the stadium with fellow Albion fans or drinking in a bar with fellow Albion fans. Better to get to the stadium in good time in my view.

Genuinely considered that myself. I'm on my own and was going to walk all round the city anyway and wondered whether it's possible to just keep going and rock up to the stadium safely.

On the other hand i might just pay sean to look after me.
