[Albion] Italian train strike [National Strike Fri. 8th March]

I thought fascists were supposed to make the trains run on time?
Which do you think has the greater pull to all of mankind:-
Extreme political beliefs?

Train strikes affecting an Albion game?
As I understand it there is a rail strike on Friday 8th. It's a separate entry to the "excluding transport" one @Stat Brother posted earlier on this thread.
I believe the Leonardo Express to Fiumicino airport should still run as that's part of the minimum agreed service during strikes. But trains to other parts of Italy may be affected and I'm don't know the details about other forms of transport e.g. buses trams and local trains in Rome.

Ive even pm'ed one of our new Italian friends, @gladiaasroma, for specific info, more so out of wishful thinking.
As said we're flying via Venice and getting the train down which tbh I am quite looking forward too along with the leisurely roll back on Friday.
In the end flights were £66 each so I've just booked them as back up.
We can loiter around the train station and when we pass our leaving time we can just head off to the airport instead and still make our flight home.
£130 peace of mind. (The money saved by flying into Venice and not Rome!)
Like others, we're mulling our options to get back up north on Friday - Verona in our case.
I see the options as...
1. Do nothing. Hope that at least some trains run and you can get on one.
2. Drive. A one-way hire car from central Rome to Milan or Verona etc is about £60-80. Fuel would probably be about the same again. We're a group of three, so with the train costing c£50pp, driving is likely to work out about the same.
2a. See if you can book a freely cancellable hire car, per the above, as a backup. Use the train if you can, but if not you can pick the car up and drive.
3. Fly from Rome to Milan. You can fly from Rome to Milan for £41 on the Friday. Note though Milan has two airports and I think the internal flight uses a different airport (Linate) to the one you may be flying to/from the UK (Malpensa).
4. Stay another day. Your flight may not be easily/cheaply amendable and you'll need another night in a hotel etc.
I imagine a lot of people are on similar flights from Milan so it may be possible for NSCers to group together to save on hire car costs/share the driving etc.
It largely comes down to your risk appetite, willingness to spend your way out of any potential problem and whether you HAVE to be on your Friday flight back.

i’ve just decided to book flight from Rome to Milan with ITA Airways flight at 12:00 on Friday cost us £45 each, allows us about 3 hours to get from Linate to Malpensa. Didn’t want to risk, train not running. Hoping I can get our money back for the return train journey that was booked.
Pretty cheeky that train companies have been selling return tickets for that day !!
Same route,will be fine even if strike happens,will be 100%train every hour
