Round the corner from the main train station.

Perhaps more important is the bus drop-off point after the game. Especially if we get a result and there are gangs of ultra's running around looking for revenge (on scooters?). That is the Pizza del Cinquecento, outside the station. This concurs with other advice posted elsewhere for Leicester and Celtic.

I've only just got over the stress of booking flights.

Accommodation can wait.
Know how you feel, don’t think I’ll ever get over the stress of booking those flights, got banned by Whizz for being a bot, stupidly booked flights through a third party seller who promptly cancelled them and still have not refunded, then had to resort to the dreaded Ryanair surge pricing and having to stay extra days to get away from the worst of it. Only reaction from my lad who was watching my meltdowns was “we’re staying longer? RESULT!”

I was so stressed I couldn’t calm down til I got the hotels, by copying another NSC’ers homework

Hotel Camelia, seems to be a decent location partway between the train station and likely meeting point

Stayed near the ground in Athens. Bloody disaster as got bussed back to the city centre after. 15 min walk turned into 2.5 hour Greek transport experience.
My first thought was to look for a hotel near the ground but for the reason you state, we're going to stay central. Very possibly the Hotel Morgana that others have mentioned as it's bang next to the station which will help with the train stuff we have to do.

My first night is near the airport, as I don’t arrive until near midnight. My second night is at DEM Hotel, which is close to the main railway station and Repubblica metro station.
