OK (FFS!), leave aside the financial aspect in this totally theoretical situation for a moment: Barcelona wants RDZ. RDZ wants Barcelona. But the Albion won't let him out of his contract. Do you think RDZ is going to be the same manager, with the same focus, enthusiasm and drive as he had before?
I feel pretty sure he won't be with us next season, which would be a shame, but obviously not the end of the world.
Farioli surely has to be on the shortlist if he goes.

From what I can understand , I think RDZ will stay if the club will become more ambitious
and gives RDZ a chance to compete for trophies,
which means not selling your best 2 players every summer

Not if a team like Barca or Liverpool seriously wants him. Nobody turns down that.
I totally get where you're coming from, BUT...
Two things:
1) If Barcelona can't find the money for what is in the grand scheme of football finance, a measly sum to pay his release clause, what does that tell one about how badly they want him and/or how much of a mess the club is in?
If RdZ REALLY wants to go, he can chip in for his release. There is no blaming Albion for an unfeasibly high fee - if it was met, he can go. Barca could very easily find the money if they had to - total revenues there are over £1bn.
2) What is the long-term cost of Bloom negotiating on a fee like this? Currently, clubs the world over know that the Albion don't budge. It's pay up, or piss off. That reputation has been earned and shouldn't be given up lightly.
Dealing with a stroppy RdZ would be tricky, but he'd get over it as the fault would not be Albion's.

I think getting The Liverpool job after Klopp will be very difficult, Barca is a bit of a basket case at the moment, with not much money to spend, so maybe he would stay

No chance of Not selling are best two players as that is the model. Its replacing them adequately which is the problem as we've seen in midfield this season.

is there some bit of news I’ve missed here, or are people squabbling over a totally non-existent, random proposal from Barcelona that someone’s pulled out of their arse? The tendency for football fans to dream up elaborate scenarios just to have an argument is exactly what Talk Sport taps into.

True, but..
If we matched his ambition in January and got him to sign the new contract, the £10m release clause could’ve become £20m and priced Barca out of going for him.
IF January has left him pissed off, his agents could easily be mentioning his name around to clubs as being available in the summer. Makes a big difference.

And if they lure a great replacement we will be in the same predicament in another season and a bit. I’m not sure how long a football club can operate like that before the bubble bursts. Not keeping a consistent side or manager together for more than a season will eventually take its toll.

Everything is idle speculation….including if he feels we have not matched his current ambitions … we dont even know where those lay other than what he is doing now with this season‘s work.
Time to put this thread on ignore for my peace of mind I think!

It will probably be Klopp, after Steve Cooper turns us down.
Your stocks can fall as quick as they’ve risen in football. The same for players and managers. If he got the poke and went off the boil would any big club want him? He’d have to keep his standards up to still be even linked to the big clubs.
