Is this Ashworth seeking to undermine the competitive advantage our scouting has through revealing key details of how it's conducted?
On the flip side - did our recruitment and overall football strategy not improve when Ashworth joined us compared to what happened before ?

He's planning to set up a system at Newcastle similar to the successful one he set up ay Brighton - quelle surprise! I presume that's exactly what Newcastle bought him to do...........................

I’d be surprised if this wasn’t the salient reason for getting him as you say!

Man introduces successful structure elsewhere

Shockingly low given the importance of it.
Wouldn't say it was shockingly low - that role is relatively junior within the parameters of a large analyst team and one of a number doing the same thing. It's the market rate - job will probably go to someone not too long out of Uni. Rates are however increasing as the jobs become more commons (depth and scope of analytics is filtering down the game quite rapidly, with specialist jobs such as this 'positional' role becoming more common)

Man United trying to appoint him as Sporting Director and Ashworth open to the move apparently. With the opportunity to join arguably the biggest club in the world that is now being run by people who know what they’re doing and knowing how ruthlessly ambitious Ashworth is, I would expect this to happen.

Yes, how dare somebody try to progress their career. They should find a job at 16 and stick to it until they retire at 78.
Ha ha. I mean, you are sort of right.

But if your job is to set the long term strategic direction of an organisation, I think that comes with an unsaid expectation that you're not going to up and leave in the middle of that task the moment a slightly bigger organisation comes along.

This might be totally harsh, but i've got an impression of the fella, that he's on his 5th wife having previously left the other 4, every time for someone slightly younger and slightly more attractive.

This sounds likely to happen. What I do wonder with Ashworth, is that once he’s set up his “wheel” with him in the centre, what does he do in the months/years where nobody is leaving their position?

I mean, great work if you can get it, but surely this is the type of consultancy role that owners should bring in on a fixed length contract to get set up, and then know themselves what they need in each role when somebody moves on.

What’s your view on RDZ ? 7 clubs in 10 years

Regardless you’d argue that his career has had an upwards trajectory - West Brom - The FA - us - Newcastle - Man Utd is all a career on the up
