It's a valid argument (though one which can never be proved either way)! Was Lawrenson really that good? - well, yes, he was. He went on to fabulous heights with Liverpool, and if his grandad hadn't drunk a pint of Guinness, England might have done better in World Cups in the 1980s! Not that this diminishes Dunk's achievements in any way.I remember the days when some people would claim that Lewis wasn't the greatest Albion player of all time and Lawrenson was better
At some time in their careers, that might well have been the case.

When he played in the FA Cup semi-final when Lewis was six months old?
When he started playing for the Albion when Lewis was 11 years old?

Yeah, but on that basis I could reasonably claim to be a better footballer than Bobby Charlton.

You are quite right that reactionary traditionally relates to political views so over-reacting may have been a better word choice. To be honest though, I imagine that there's a pretty strong correlation between reactionary politics and bedwetting football rage.

This is all very impressive but I'm not about to start pretending that Wimbledon and Franchise FC were ever the same club.
Very nice. But has he been with his club from Div 1 all the way into the upper reaches of the Premier League and Europe? Long service with one club is amazing. To do so whilst having to continually up your performance levels to keep pace with a club going all the the way to the top of football is quite incredible.Dean Lewington.
