Our much vaunted scouting, recruitment and succession planning has fallen asunder in the women’s game.

How many managers have we had running our WSL team in the last five years?

cant really explain that one, thought we have looked better recently, but we have been very poor at times as well. Manager situation in the last 2 seasons has been quite frankly a car crash.

A real shame, Mel was one of the good guys. I wish her every success in the future and hope we don't rue this what appears to be somewhat hasty decision.

Shocked by this one. Phillips hasn't looked happy in recent interviews/press conferences but did the press conference at lunchtime and was then informed in the afternoon about the decision. Why sack her the day after the window closes?? Feels like that there is something wrong in the structure of the womens team and has been for a while with the performances, the manager merry-go-round and the inability to hold onto our best players and coaches (thinking Merricks here). We have amazing facilities apparently for the womens team, but we are not seeing a consistent improvement in performances - not that the changing of managers and players helps on that front.

Everything about this is so weird. I genuinely liked Mel, seemed a good sort. Timing is really odd, but I’m also not sure where the club really expect to be if they keep shifting managers every 5 minutes.

And it’s all well and good saying “Oh we support the women’s side with investment”, but they get 1 game a year at the Amex and they don’t even pick opponents that make sense. Chelsea, United and Arsenal always bring loads of fans and would be MUCH more attractive for casual fans. If they want to grow the fan base they need to make a few sensible choices

The common link is Tony Bloom. Mr Teflon, somehow he stays, on each occasion
I don't care we're 9th in the Premier League, through to the round of 16 in the Europa League, through to the FA Cup 5th Round - we lost 4-0 at Luton in the Premier League, the U21s lost at Wycombe and the womens team manager has lost her job because they're 3rd bottom safe in the WSL, albeit safe....

There's obviously a terminal decline afoot at Albion and we need to get rid of the bad apples FAST. If we don't beat Palace on Saturday then RDZ is obviously a witch as well.

Grow the fan base or secure a place in the top half of the WPL? Results have been fairly mediocre and maybe the club felt there was no point in continuing with something that isn’t working.

Or maybe there’s another reason that both parties have agreed to keep confidential

There must be more to this. Maybe some of you womens followers can find out more What was her relationship with players like. Doesnt make sense 2/3 of our best players left allowed to bring in 8/9 new ones and just before gets the boot allowed to bring in 2 more.

RDZ hadn't heard of Pedro. Suspect recruitment for the Women is similar

Whether it's men's or women's, if the team is down near the bottom of the league and we're not improving fast enough, TB will wield the knife.

He doesn't want us bumbling along. Fair enough
