Without messing about surely it's time for the business to become household delivery on Monday, Wednesday and Friday ? The company have already declared they want to drop weekend delivery, medical services now text you about appointments and services etc. Important financial or legal documents give you a twenty eight day window in which to reply. It's a fast changing moving market so how do you make the company competitive in today's internet age ?

Why not? Well...

Are you intending to pay all the staff a full-time wage still? If so, you're not going to save a lot of money doing this.

Or,

If your plan is that the employees all cut their paychecks by 40%? You're probably going to struggle to retain a workforce.

Give the delivery service to amazon they come to most road about 10 times a day anyway. Free delivery twice a week or the sender pays for named day delivery.

if there's a lack of posties in some areas, or they need to reduce overall numbers, it might make sense. having a daily peice of junk mail and about 3-4 actual post items a month, i dont see a daily service is sustaintable.

Bizarrely we've had post yesterday AND today - whereas in the last few months it's been very hit and miss (more miss) with the Dolphins household getting 12 items, then nothing, then after a week or two, another 12 items (yes, I counted them!) and so on.

The postal service in S.E.Essex has been poor for over a month. We had 15 and a neighbour 24 letters on one day. People pay for a service they are not receiving. Every Wednesday only is not acceptable.

I think it’ll stay a 6 day service for many years to come, politics comes into it, on this occasion that’s a good thing.

We still post letters and packages, and receive mail each day (even after stopping 99% of mail-shots a long time ago).

I assumed the OP was just a copy and paste of that one when I first opened it.
But no, I see the words are in a slightly different order.

I've just sent a parcel to Thailand. Cheapest quote was £19.00 from Royal Mail and they even collect it.
Postie drove from the depot in a van all the way to me just to collect the parcel, I knew because I asked him. Probably cost in wages and fuel over half of the price I paid.

Royal Mail will continue to deliver letters whilst they’re still being used as a means of communication by business and individuals. The argument can be had, based on current and predicted volumes, as to the number of days per week that deliveries will happen, but there are still billions of them moving around the network each year.

The parcels side of the business will continue to grow and hopefully become technologically more advanced. I say that as someone working for them to achieve some of that!
