Wonder if the delay in the official announcement is because they are looking to do a loan at the same time? Pleased to announce that he has signed and will now spend the rest of the season at x club

Interesting.

The slow speed of this transfer was predicted very early by trusted club journos such as Naylor/Owen. So nothing has changed from our original plan. They’ve not yet told us why it’s so slow.

I’m guessing that plan involves the player not coming to Brighton for medicals, contract signing, house hunting etc. That seems complex. Surely we’ll want our medical folk to examine him with top end medical equipment (heart scanning etc). Where will we do this in Argentina etc?

But the fact that Naylor has mentioned a loan makes it seem a lot more likely. I am surprised as injuries have forced RDZ into a back 3 without fullbacks available. I hope you are not right as this guy looks so exciting but I fear your are.

Perhaps someone who is more of a defender is being brought in by the club next?

Just in Buenos Aires at the moment and went yesterday to La bonbonera, spoke to club employees and fans alike and all day we’ve got a fantastic player. Shame his portrait is plastered all over club shop.
Did anyone call him El Mierdacasa?

Speaking to the ticket staff and fans in the club shop, they are absolutely sure he’s gone, they’re saying he’ll be with you two years before he’s transferred to a bigger club. Everything aside. All I could think of was from Hereford Utd 25 years ago to taking players off boca juniors and all their fans knowing all about us and saying ‘yeahh he’s gone to Brighton’ Great stuff, I even got mrs shingle to take a pic of me next to his portrait in club shop.

I have edited slightly to reflect the reality of where we able to buy full backs from 25 years ago.

I hope it's not another Pritchard situation ;)

Actually - I hope it is another Pritchard if that's the way it's shaping up ;)

Nah it's a done deal. Club probs just waiting for the pics and for the right time to announce to get traction on sports news and social here and in Argentina so it doesn't get lost in amongst the weekend's games. No rush considering he won't be able to play for us for another month.

With them being three hours behind, I reckon around midday GMT tomorrow.

If we do loan him out, that leave us with zero of RDZ’s ‘3 players needed’. I understand why we wouldn’t go and get 3 first team ready players in this window, but will RDZ? He’s still not signed the contract.
Yeah that’s where my concerns are. The line from Bloom about everyone being fit in Feb seems to suggest that we don’t need anyone but it’s not just about numbers, in a number of areas we need to improve the quality available.

I never thought we would sign 3/4 but if we weren’t to give RDZ any reinforcements I’d imagine he would be pissed off.

Before the usual suspects jump in with ‘in Tony we trust etc’ it was RDZ who said publicly he ‘needs’ 3/4 not anyone on here.

I can't see him going out on loan tbh, despite the talk of it. Maybe Barco coming in will facilitate Buonanotte going to the Championship to get more gametime? He will fall way down the pecking order when Fati, Enciso, Adingra and Mitoma are back, which shouldn't be much more than 4/5 weeks away.

Would love us to get a holding midfielder (Koopmeiners?) and an attacking right back (Boey?) in but I can't see it happening in Jan. Think RDZ might be a bit peeved come the end of the month. Mind you, the one time the club listened to him and went against policy to get one of his targets it appears to have gone a bit tits up.

And therein lies the real stupidity of even contemplating loaning Barco out

If he’s not ready to play PL football he still isn’t one of the three first time players needed.

Although either way can’t see a world where we’ll be signing 3 first team players. The squad isn’t that small.

Large squads don’t mean success.
