fast forward 40 odd years
1,000 murders in London under the current mayor's watch
God knows how many more stabbings that weren't fatal
do you blame skinheads?
Not sure I even blamed skin heads for Crawley being a dump 40 years ago. It was what it was.

Not sure that supporting the skin heads of 40 years ago in Crawley would have kept the knife crime down in London now, either.

But you never know.

You will be pleased to hear that Sid Minter died decades ago, and all the pubs, including the White Hart are under new management, several times over since 44 f***ing years ago.
I'm very pleased to hear that.

I paid a brief visit 10 years ago. The big 'new' shopping citadel seemed nice. Goffs park, where I used to walk my dog, was a mud heap, but its hard to argue with geology.

If it is no longer creepy, that's good news. League football team an' all. Progress.

One of the regulars in my pub was an ancient Irishman, who claimed that him and his pals built Crawley (as it became). I enjoyed his anecdotes.

Despite the grimness of some things....on my day off I'd take the train (no car, then) down to Horsham, and nurse a lunch time pint while reading the Grauniad in a pub in town, while my dog basked in front of the fire. Not all bad.

Do you like commuter towns? Do you enjoy washing your car every Sunday? Do you drive a mid range audi or bmw. Do you enjoy the comedy of Michael McIntyre? Do you think Rishi Sunak is doing a good job in the circumstances? Are you a fan of the wild rock and roll of the band Coldplay? Are you willing to overpay for a semi detached house on a 1960's housing development for the benefit of a fast rail connection to London? Are you a fan of exotic foriegn food like Italian, Indian and Chinese. When you dress down do you favour a polo shirt ? Big fan of golf ? Do you drink Birra Moretti? A nice prosecco for the wife maybe a bottle of Jamshed at the weekend? Does the decor of you house lack any colours other than beige or gray. Does your house lack books? Have you tarmaced over the front garden fo additional parking? Are your favourite films Goodfellas and Snatch? Do you think you could win if you could get on The Traitors orThe Apprentice? Do you listen to Heart Fm or wherever the hell Chris Evans is nowadays?

If you answered yes to all of these you already live in Haywards Heath. If you answered yes to 50% or more come talk to Jake or Chloe at identikit estate agents or they can come visit you in their company liveried Mini. Get started on your new life in Sussex's dullest town today
No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. No. No. No. No. No. No.

Christ, that was exhausting.

But still no answer
You seem determined to live in the past
Perhaps it suits your agenda?
Who do you blame the current knife crime epidemic on
White gammon?
Sorry, are you changing the subject from my recollections of Crawley 40 years ago to how to cure knife crime in London today? A bit weird but....

OK.

I am going to suggest that knife crime is caused by the people carrying knives. This seems to be a 'thing' among (but not exclusive to) young working class black males (since you seem to have a thing about making whites whiter than white, there you go, I said it). The solution? I doubt there is one. People living in echo chambers hear only versions of themselves. I gather they mostly stab each other so unless you are a young black male living in London you have little to worry about.

But I am not going to use that as an endorsement of white NF skin heads in Crawley 40 years ago. If you were one of them (you seem to be on their side) then it is surely time to wallow in your nostalgia, not pick a 'whatabout' fight with me.

(I have never had issues with you so I am going to suggest 'this' is one of those 'lost in translation on the internet' things. Have a nice evening, and Up The Albion  )

They dredged the lake at the top of the park, and spread the sludge on the hill 10 years ago, it was fenced off whilst the sludge dried out a bit, and is now back to a nice grassy slope.

Is O'Sullivan the most talented sportsman at his own sport that we've seen?

Glad to hear it. I evidently chose the wrong time to go on a nostalgia trip. Does the model railway still run?

For his longevity at the top-most level, hard to argue. He's 50.

Wayne Gretsky
Cassius Clay
er, Lance Armstrong

Muhammed Ali was well beaten in several of his later fights, as well as losing the heavyweight title twice. Lance Armstrong was massively improved by performance-enhancing drugs, so I wouldn't put either of them in the mix.
Tom Brady and Don Bradman would be in the conversation. Maybe Jahangir Khan also. Phil Taylor, obviously. Jack Niklaus?
