[Albion] What’s the worst away day in the 92?

Seen a few comments saying Stoke but had a decent day out today. Stadium easy to find, easy to park nearby for £6, cheap pie in the ground, good atmosphere in the away end, not a bad stadium compared to some other modern ones, and a nice Harvester meal with my son after the game right next to the stadium. A good day out
I was invited to leave the ground at halftime by some very polite and helpful stewards, for being a silly teenager (2005 I think?). Swiftly followed by a mate. We’d been drinking snakebite the whole way up. We made our way into that Harvester, somehow, as the car park outside the away end was fenced off. Got chatting to some Stoke lads in there that were banned. Bought us drinks. Gradually the place filled up and it dawned that we were no longer welcome, and needed to leave asap. That was a nerve racking experience, seemed to take forever to exit the pub and reach the relative safety of the car park!
Also my dad and I had been chased over the adjacent waste ground a few years previously (2002) by some rampant homophobic Stokies!
Having said all that, I’d vote for Luton as probably the worst. I think the rows of seats there were so tight that you couldn’t sit down even if you wanted to.

My only visit to the old Victoria Ground was with a mate who was a Stoke fan when I lived in the Midlands to see Stoke v Norwich in the mid 80s. When Stoke scored it was like the mosh pit and then from nowhere some fans were being crowd surfed down the terracing. You couldn’t make it up.

Being reasonably tall this wasn’t good news for me as one of them went smack into the back of my head, blood pouring everywhere and I spent much of the rest of the game with St. John’s Ambulance at the back of the stand getting the blood cleaned up and getting put back together again. I still recall having a night out in Stoke afterwards though.

Probably not one of the top weekends I ever had!

It’s a funny place, Stoke. On the train to Liverpool for an Everton game a few years ago and a large amount of people got on at Crewe. The scouse couple that we were having a chat with told us that they were mostly from Stoke and that the city empties on weekends because it’s so dull!

Walsall is also pretty dodgy but probably the away day that put me off the most was a game at Blackpool during the Poyet era. I think everyone has a view with a pylon in the way and the d*ckheads in front of us just spewed bile towards the linesman the whole game. (metaphorically)
