Fitted one yesterday funnily enough. It’s a very smart piece of kit and managed to get it set up nicely. I just reduced the sensitivity a notch each time it went off throughout the day and I feel pretty confident I’ve got it nicely balanced out now, just how I want it. I have a busy road 50 yards from my house and wanted the sensitivity at the max to give me as much prior warning as possible when someone approaches from the end of the drive, without the cars setting it off every five minutes. Needs a good Wi-fi signal though. My only gripe is that the video feed ‘can’ take too long to load, but no longer than it would ordinarily take to get to the front door. I managed to get rid of two different canvassers today rather promptly without leaving my office. They seemed less inclined to try it on whilst on camera and talking to me through an intercom haha

We have the Pro and it works fine for us. You do need to fiddle with the settings to get it to work and I accept the occasional false positive (typically the neighbour gardening) for the additional security.

Ours works like a dream and has helped us on a couple of occasions, amazing how quickly the teenage kids forget you have a ring doorbell!

As these are an Amazon company, I was reading about how they can use the data collected. Things such as common times when you're in or out of your home, how sociable your are, other deliveries etc.

One useful thing was using the data to coordinate deliveries; organising them on the higher probability of people being in.

Having just been burgled I am looking into getting a Ring Doorbell. I am surprised that there are so many options . Scratching my head not knowing how to increase security. Suggestions please .

Postmen dont ring them as if they reply and say theyre not there and can you leave it somewhere, its no good if they want a signiture

I’ve got a couple of arlo cameras, am very pleased with them (I do pay every month for the subscription)

Ring spotlight cam. Lights up at night on detection of any movement in the chosen range and videos any person movement .
Also allows you to talk to the person with a live view or even press an alarm sound

I paid about £150 I think and it’s great

I have ring products and think they are pretty good but they are only any use for security if you pay for a plan otherwise the videos don't get saved anywhere, the plans are a few quid a month per device. The hardware is pretty inexpensive especially if you get their products when Amazon (who own them) are doing deals.

I have doorbell 4 and two stick up cams. If you go for the later models of the doorbell along side the stick up cams then they use the same batteries which is helpful as I have two spare batteries. Obviously it's better the hardwire all of them as then you don't need to worry about replacing batteries but you'll probably need to pay a sparky to do it for you. The batteries last from 2-4 months depending on how frequently they are used. I also have the solar mount for the doorbell which extends the battery life to around 6 months.

The only other thing I'll add is they won't stop you getting burgled. I put one out the front of mine after a speight of catalytic converter thefts in my area. Well you can guess the rest......

I have a complete Blink system. 3 indoor cameras, 3 outdoor cameras and the Blink doorbell all hooked up to an Amazon Show screen along with my phone.
As it all works via WiFi no wires are needed and all motion is stored in the cloud (it's free for me but check)
All my Alexa speakers scream 'Food delivery at door' although this can be changed and turned off overnight. Doorbell shows on the Show plus all other cameras can be called up for a live picture. Pretty certain my smart LG TV can be set up to show the doorbell as well if needed.
All this isn't cheap right now but watch out for offers, got all mine on Black Friday deals over the years.

I can give you security advice, it's my expert subject. How did they burglar gain entry, that is the first place to start.
