Watching Man Ure lose at Forest and seeing Steve McClaren on the bench as part of the coaching staff, had me thinking (hypothetically), which past manager, who, incidentally was sacked, would you have sitting alongside Roberto.............this is just for fun, not serious !

Steve McLaren never managed Man Utd though. So we’d need to pick a former assistant manager for it to fit the same criteria (oh and he wasn’t sacked either, he left Man Utd to become Middlesbrough boss).

So given all that the closest I can think of is Colin Calderwood.

If it’s only an assistant we have to choose from then I reckon Charlie Oatway and / or Tanno would complement the RDZ temperament

Nathan Jones. Fluent in Spanish but messed up by going to Southampton. He was a good assistant and did well with Luton.
