Completely RANDOM things about Brighton & Hove...

Apologies if this has been posted already. I just saw it today. A trip on a bus up North Street and past Churchill Square (then back down the other way) ... in colour ... in the early '70s! https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10205698985221276&pnref=story

Goth At The BBC - Up On iPlayer

Siouxsie was great, Bauhaus not bad, The Cure ok. Specimen were awful - like a very, very bad New York Dolls. Sex Gang Children...... just 'no'. I switched it off at that point. Far better was the Black Sabbath 'Paranoid' documentary preceding it - an oft-told tale- but a good one.

Sad I know, but I am so looking forward to Storage Wars UK.....

"The people are real but some scenes have been enhanced for your entertainment". Can't say as I'm overwhelmed by Storage Hunters UK. It's populated by bellowing cockney barrow boys and shrieking over-made-up women. I bet when they show it in the States they'll have to sub-title most of it. One...

God I watch all of them compulsively. Even the repeats that I've seen three times before. I started on Storage Wars which always seemed to be rooted in some vague form of reality. Dan Dotson is a real auctioneer. (Get well Dan - he had a stroke you know). Then I moved onto Storage Hunters. This...

Indietracks Festival / all things C86 and indiepop!

Belatedly - yes I am! I see Turn It Up is well remembered on this forum. Was a great thing to be involved with. I joined in 1985 and left in 1993. Lots of good memories. I'm still active in the radio 'business'. I'll post a link if there's any interest. I don't play too much indie anymore...

Completely RANDOM things about Brighton & Hove...

Wow this pic is a mindblower*. The old Virgin on the corner of Queens rd where Boots is now of course. Next to it is the old dance hall which I think reputedly- according to my mate Mad Terry - had the biggest sprung dancefloor in the country. He said that the middle went up and down 6 inches...

Yes I have a copy of Dogma #1. I saw your post on Punk Brighton about it and have emailed you.

Completely RANDOM things about Brighton & Hove...

Don't remember The Stranglers at the Buccaneer but used to go down there a bit in the 70s as my mate's band used to play there quite often. They were called Sharafia in case anyone remembers them. Their biggest claim to fame was supporting Showaddywaddy in Hastings around 1978. Hmmm. Anyway -...

Completely RANDOM things about Brighton & Hove...

Nope, doesn't ring a bell.... sorry! It was a one-horse town as you describe but I wasn't in the centre of the heaving metropolis.... I lived on the edge (not metaphorically.... although now I come to think of it, I did a bit I suppose).... nearer to Hassocks anyway. Went to Hassocks County...

Completely RANDOM things about Brighton & Hove...

Thanks for the comments on my (far too long!) post above. Yes - Gwylan ... Fine records... I'm struggling a bit with this. Is it where Rounder is now? That's Brighton Sq is it not? I should know it. I can't believe it doesn't ring a bell --- cuz as you can tell... i was in and out of practically...

Completely RANDOM things about Brighton & Hove...

Just found this awesome thread :-) I lived in Hurstpierpoint 1973 - 1981 (aged 12 - 20) so as you can imagine coming down to Brighton was a very big deal in those far off days. Train fare when I started coming down .... usually on a Saturday... was 19p return as I recall. As a penniless...
