Was probably instinctive to reach out and grab but I think its better to let the player go and trust your goalie. Especially with so long in the match to go

Yes and no. 7 red cards in 4 seasons in the PL isn’t a great record, especially for our captain

He needs to assault fans in the stands like Dier or be arrested and imprisoned like Harry to live up to Southgate’s England’s disciplinary standards.

Hmmm not sure Dunk has always had exemplary disciplinary standards off the pitch like Dier or Maguire but let’s not get into that…

Either way even before today or even this season Dunk was never going to be first or second choice CB for Southgate so who cares if he goes as a benchwarmer [emoji2375]

I don't think logical thinking plays any part here, you make your decision and live with it - Dunk has more in the bank than any other player out there...

Can you imagine the dogs abuse almost any other of our players would have got on here had he made the decision Dunk did today.

I agree with you completely. In terms of fans' reaction, Dunk is well in credit to not be hung drawn and quartered.

...do you pull him back or let him go?

(Not criticising Dunk, nor suggesting he made the wrong call)

Let him go, it’s not a guaranteed goal

Wolves starting to play well and they will open us up further when Traore comes on, it’s better to have 11 on the field

If it was in the last 5 minutes then that justifies a different approach

I would have let him go. If you can't win the ball fairly you don't deserve to win it: it's kind of the point of sport to determine that. But that sort of honesty would no doubt have seen us relegated and is one reason why nobody would let me near a Premier League squad (along with being 45 years old and absolutely woeful at football, among others).

Still, I was a bit disappointed to see it. I thought Lewis had grown out of instinctively lunging at a player who had got away from him.

If it had been the 92nd minute, I would have accepted it, taking one for the team,

I wonder how many millions that will cost the club when it comes to final table positions to the club?

But it's football as others have mentioned. This is all in hindsight,

Spilt second instinctive thing. No one on here can say they wouldn’t have done exactly the same in the heat of that moment.

but why is it an "instinct" to grab a players shirt? where is this picked up as a legitimate part of the game?

Can I not choose both ?

I think he did the right thing to pull him back and advert the goal . But once he went off I would have had everyone behind the ball for the rest of the match. And brought more defenders on .

If you want to still try and attack and they did which was very brave. So if still gonna try and attack then the answer is let him go and take your chances he might miss.

So I can't criticise Lewis for what he did. There isn't a 100% right answer.

Trust your keeper and we still have way more of a chance to get a result with 11 men. Fortunately for Dunk he has credit in the bank and up to that point had been brilliant.

I'm probably more concerned about Maupay's decision making :(
