Successful trials in 2020.....oh really?
I didn’t know about any trials last year, do they mean the couple of matches at the Amex when 2,000 fans attended ?

Yes, there was an option to download to phone rather than print at home. It would be interesting to know how many of the 2,000 took the e-ticket option.

Yes I take the point about the new Covid era but aren't we all going to be vaccinated this year, that's how the virus is going to be supressed, not track and trace

Without meaning to make the thread about Covid there's just so many unknowns about the near future even with vaccines. Just because we are vaccinated doesn't mean covid goes away, just means we're less likely to die from it.

A little concerned, my son's ticket is paid annually in one go, and he has a 100% balance remaining from last season as didn't seek any refund and was not able to attend any games as lives in London.
So having signed in to the renewal process online it says no action required, which is what you would expect, but then another box underneath saying direct debit payment renewing on Thursday 29 April but the ticket isn't paid by direct debit and the club have no bank details to do so.
I assume this is just the clubs way of renewing where there is 100% funds from last year, but they could have made this a lot clearer.

Could be mis-remembering, but pretty sure I took the download to phone option for the Chelsea game, and ended up having to walk round from the East stand to the ticket office to get a print out when it didn't work. Lots of others with the same issue.

What do you do if you don't have a smart phone or any photo id (no passport or driving licence)?

Though to be honest how many adults are there that attend Albion matches that don't have a smart phone and no form of photo ID at all? Must be a tiny amount.

Hopefully this isn't the successful trial otherwise we may not get into the ground until 10 minutes after the final whistle if everyone has to do this.

I suspect it was - I hadn't misremembered, just checked the wallet on my iPhone and the Chelsea tickets is in there...

I don't necessarily have a problem with using my phone to get in (I like to move with the times); but I am concerned that I may need a longer flex?

Always has done.....used it myself many times.

If my son was 12 I could upgrade his ticket for maybe £20 and take a pal. As he’s an adult, I can’t unless I’ve paid £20 and the recipient is an Albion + member and paid £25. If junior (or I) can’t make a game this coming season, his or my seat will be empty I suspect. Not always been the case previously. Doubt I’m the only one in that situation

You're not the only one; there's loads of us that have passed on their ticket for games on a regular basis. But you only have to pay the £20 once, and the recipient only has to pay the £25 once. It's generally the same bloke that gets my ticket, so this one-off £25 isn't really a major factor for us and certainly cheaper than him getting a full-price ticket on the exchange.

I don't understand your complaint as it's not as if the club have changed any rules (or in this case a law). You weren't supposed to informally pass on your season ticket last season; you're not supposed to this season.

Same with seasonal flu, but we don't let it affect our lives in general.

Yes but we know what to expect with the flu as it has been around for a long time. I'm just pointing out that there are a lot of unknowns and vaccines don't automatically make it a done deal. However yes we should be planning to get on with our lives going forward. We can't stay cooped up forever.

Not really complaining, can see why it's been done and that ID checks will be enforced for the foreseeable anyway so enforcing the existing rules (with some flexibility) makes sense - more an observation, and a view (could be right or wrong) that it will affect quite a few people and lead to plenty of empty seats...........it's fine if the recipient is the same person each time but suspect there a lot that have been informally passing STs on to a variety of people.

Personally we don't have many F&F (that aren't STHs already) that would expect/want to attend more than maybe one game a year, so they are unlikely to join A+ - so equally, little point in me or junior paying the £20 either - meaning an empty seat if either of us can't go.

I remain sceptical that ID checks will ever be implemented to a level that prevents you passing on your ticket informally - maybe they'll do it if someone's being a bit lary or it the police think they've spotted someone with a banning order. I will however be signing up for the scheme so that we can be officially within the law for this season at least.

As well as the performing and/or effectiveness of ID checks, it'll be interesting to see how (if?) passing informally will work with an e-ticket if people still try it on - dunno if you can even transfer your 'wallet' given screenshoot won't work for STs ................if the ID checks are like some of the security searches it won't be too difficult to get past though :lolol::lolol: I won't be breaking any rules either

Sorry about this question. What is the difference between a mobile phone and a smart phone. Smart phone is a new word to me. Mine is about 10 years old. Would estimate make 2/3 calls a month and receive same number of texts. Have never received or taken a photo

This is my concern. I used the Google Wallet option for both the Chelsea and Saints games and, each time, it took multiple attempts to persuade the reader to register my ticket, allowing access. I'd say I was holding up the queue for at least 2 minutes each time, holding my phone at differet angles and distances from the reader before it finally worked. I was certainly not the only one, so will be 'interesting' to see how the system copes with up to 30,000 people.

Well a smart phone is something like an iPhone or equivalent. The default these days is for smart phones which is why not everyone prefixes it with the smart but using it in this thread to differentiate with older phones. Not sure the number of calls you make has any relevance but the age sure does. Doubt your phone will do what is needed to work with Albion tickets.

Think you're right and will just be used in a targeted way. However also think they may do some spot checks first few games of the season just to make people a bit weary.
