Favourite toppings?

I don't understand the question.

Pancakes are served with caster sugar and lemon juice.
There are no "toppings"

This, but the odd one with golden syrup on top goes down a treat.

Pancakes are one of my favourite breakfast foods. My time in Canada taught me well. Although I'm allergic to dairy you can make some decent vegan ones if you go the the American stack style, drown them in proper pure maple syrup and a dollop of whipped coconut cream on top with banana and blueberries.
Harder to make a vegan crepe style pancake.

Pancake Day always really makes me miss my mum. She'd just stand at the hob smashing out proper home made pancakes until we'd had enough.

Always lemon and sugar...

But a Happy Eater/Little Chef Cherry & Ice Cream was a treat!

What seems like light years ago, I used to work at the Happy Eater at Hickstead. Ate pancakes on breaks until I was sick of them :lolol:

Surely you mean the filling?
We used to regularly have these at a kid and I loved them. A couple of years ago decided to get some for my kids and they couldn't stand them!

Normal pancakes I don't really do, used to as a kid, same with cakes. Never tried American either, they just look so sickly sweet.

If I was going to have some , it would be lemon and sugar, or bandanas, blueberries, chocolate and cream.

I worked at the Little Chef at Hickstead around 1982/1983. Were they different ? Those cherry (from a large jar) and ice cream pancakes were amazing.

I think they are different places. The Happy Eater was on the northbound carriageway, where what is now a car showroom I think.

Makes sense. The Little Chef was on the Southbound side. I used to do a lot of washing up and those pancakes were marvelous for break times. At the time I hated the job but I would love to be 16 years old and in that kitchen again !
