I know plenty of people "IRL" that voted leave and they are intelligent, thoughtful people who can articulate the reasons they left and can also voice concerns about the way Brexit is being conducted. So how come all the leave voters on here are such abject wankers?

And yet despite having the BBC, Channel 4, countless celebrities, and the political establishment on your side, you still couldn’t put up a compelling reason to stay for the majority of voters.

It was not my job at the time to persuade the nation to vote Remain, unfortunately, so we will have to blame others for the lack lustre effort to sell the EU to the UK, but part of the problem was that the UK Tory government was backing Remain, whilst many of their MP's, and their most popular politician was backing Leave, and there was a concern for blue on blue attacks which muted Remain campaign attacks on the bullshit from Boris. That and the fact that a number of the benefits that they could have listed for EU citizens, Tory Governments had argued against the EU doing, so a bit hard for Cameron to sell.

With respect for keeping things civil and that the thread was asking for responses from Leave voters, I will just say I disagree that the BBC and Channel 4 were particularly partisan, and that circuitous funding and illegal use of data for targeted mis-information ads (Turkey set to Join, Polar Bears under threat, EU supports Whaling etc.) were significant on the Leave side, whilst freedom of movement and asylum were successfully conflated by Farage and others amidst a largely Islamic refugee crisis and recent Islamic terror attacks. If Leaving was such a good idea, surely honesty and the truth would have sufficed?

This is the single biggest fallacy of the remain argument.

Policy is dictated by the Commission and voted in by MEPs who are mostly Europhiles including the UK contingent. There is no desire here for meaningful reform.

The council is a qualified majority vote so again reform is impossible, just look what happened to Cameron.

John Humphrys wrote that the BBC (hierarchy) were devoutly Remain and allowed that to steer their coverage and tone in all years up to 2019.

I listened to a radio interview he gave a year ago, where he explained that all senior figures were very London centric, in that they privately spent the Brexit years dismissing what the ‘less intelligent’ people really felt in Lancashire, the Welsh Valleys, The Fens, etc.

Generally the remainers who have joined in with this thread (albeit specifically uninvited) have behaved quite well, without hyperbole and rhetoric,

But unfortunately some just can't help themselves. Still, I daresay the few who have dragged it into the bear pit will be happy with their efforts; they can now play in it to their hearts' content, without reasonable posters going in there and bothering to contradict them. Enjoy yourselves.

It's funny, because many Leave voters complain about how it has evolved to what it is, and fear that it is heading towards becoming a full Federal government, whilst also, like you, saying it will never change.

I think John Humphrys opinion is valid, but to be impartial, you would have to consider an alternative opinion too, wouldn't you?

This is a rather overlooked tendency of the hardcore Brexiteers (not all leave voters), the need to blame others. They cannot simply say, the EU does us no good, because it will make them look rather silly when we really leave. Why? Because it’s all going to go pear, very quickly.
So, blame it on the BBC, on London, on a woke generation who “didn’t listen to them”.
Like all good Brexiteers, already lining up the “get outs”.
Who can blame them really? They have played a large part in destroying the country they claim to love, I don’t suppose I’d want that on me either.
