Hmmm. Seeing as I was one of the best climbers in the country when I was 17 and have voluntarily worked as an accountant for my local primary school and done months of grunt work for Barnardo's you might want to rethink that post.

Tougher than anything I've done? Ha ha ha!!!! Like Shane Duffy, Google me.

I didn't say anything about his TA SAS thing btw.

I said he is a serial liar who has made a fortune from bullshit.

Of course he will come across as charismatic when he needs to. That's The whole thing that underpins the scam. You clearly fell for it.

That's a revealing post. If you know the foeld, the charlatans can be . . . .annoying.

There's a lad I know who does the same job as me but has bullshitted his way to the 'top', twists facts and misrepresents research data, while doing precious little real work himself. He takes in vast numbers of people and has massess of charisma. I feel a bit sorry for him because he's clearly got some sort of personality disorder that requires constant praise and recognition. When he got his OBE the other year quite a few of us sprayed a mouthful of tea. It would be a bit like giving Annie Nightingale an OBE for services to Punk Rock.

Top rant, but you have caused a bit of collateral damage with your vituperation

I thought I'd been quite restrained on the swear front. [emoji23]

Fair enough - I didn't arrange the event so can't comment on that side of things - just that I got a few minutes chat with him and he seemed very good and also he did an activity with my two son's and they came away beaming.

I just find it slightly weird that someone that hasn't met a person that affects their life not a single jot can slag them off so much ( I exclude politicians from that statement ).

As noted above the person in my field who sounds like LlcoolJ's description of Grylls is adored by many. He has extreme charisma. But I would not wish to go into details about the bad things he's done.

The best strategy to get on with limited abilities that don't match your ambitions is to flatter people, lie only when you have to, never apologise, and make gifts of your time whenever it will cost you next to nothing but the receipient will feel blessed by you. Also, if you have the charisma to stab someone in the back yet they still want to forgive you, the sky is the limit. If you criticise such a perrson, other people will look at you as if you're mad.

By the sound of it Mr Grylls may have a slice of this phenotype.

I've always wondered how posh boys from the aristocracy/royalty seem to achieve glittering decorated MIlitary careers without ever actually doing anything remotely useful brave or dangerous ? Like they get medals for completing a gruelling assault course in Wales on a lads weekend, or flying a helicopter on their estate in Scotland when its raining.

You mean like prince harry living in forward operating base in Sangingetting attacked by taliban most nights and calling in air support (a ****ing complicated thing to do without dropping the bombs on your own heads) and then going back a few years later for a second tour flying Apaches gunships. Or Prince William saving countless lives flying SAR missions in a SeaKing. Yeah definately none of that was remotely brave or dangerous you bellend.

I've been critical of him for making loads of money out of being a total fraud. That addresses your point. Sorry, what were your other points?

That I've done nothing as "tough" as him? No way Grylls could climb anything anywhere near as hard as I have. It's a fact.

Addressed.

That I've done nothing to assist underprivileged children? I have. I didn't charge for it either. Fact.

Addressed.

Please stop, you are just digging and digging and it's not pretty.

Have had a few PMs supporting me against your bullying tactics (their words not mine). You've clearly got plenty of previous for this sort of thing.

Unfortunately, you've picked the wrong target this time because I don't give a toss and will happily continue to reply to your incorrect rubbish.

You wade into stuff without having a clue what you're talking about and then refuse to back down. Instead throwing insults about and being all shouty. As others have said, that's your MO.

Knock yourself out sweetie, I'm here all week. X

You OK Hun ? You seem very upset.

As for bullying .... as you're so tough I'm sure you can cope with some criticism Honey. ( and yes I know you didn't accuse me of bullying but you couldn't help point out others are accusing me of it - although not brave enough to accuse me directly on the thread ).

FFS. You lost. Give it a rest you fool.

I've had some more PMs from people who in general think you are probably a nice person but obviously not very clever and with anger issues. I think that's probably correct and seems to be the consensus.

However. You contradicted yourself in that post alone. No, I didn't call you a bully, not because I'm "not brave enough" but because I don't feel like I'm being bullied. Get it? Other people think you are a bully and that you have tried to bully them. They don't like you because of that.

Simple words. Hope you understand.

"I seem very upset" Ok. All I've done is calmly call you out on your bullshit as you've jumped up and down with clenched fists and a bright red face SHOUTING that I'm so nasty.

Lol. You really are a complete and utter joke. Please stop, you're already dead.

Totally agree , not all the time but the vast majority of high ranking officers in the army / navy are degree educated . The basic soldiers are usually not degree educated .

There must be a good reason for that . Maybe people that have been to university are usually more capable of strategic thinking and operating under pressure , more grown up and less likely to have a meltdown .

Maybe I’m doing some people a disservice , do you agree ?

Bear Grylls has always seemed a bit of a tit to me and it's interesting to read about why he may be more so than first imagined. Also agree that many people get into top roles because they can charm and be well liked when in fact they're incompetent, sly and of poor character but then hasn't it always been so? Shame this thread has derailed a bit and members can't rise above their own arrogance and name calling. But basically, yeah Bear Grylls does need calling out perhaps!

Not being a fan of the man Bear, I was quite happy for this thread to appear and to have a bit of fun with like minded Gryllophobes.

But you really don't do yourself any favours in the way you engage with others and you've managed to help derail your own thread here.

Up to you of course, but my advice is to stop before posting and consider whether you are still adding anything to a discussion, or just into a personal slanging match. The latter is very dull for others to read and adds no value to the world.

Accepted. However (as mentioned many times) I say what I see and I won't allow idiots and boorish fools to take over threads with their nonsense.

Perhaps your ire should be directed more at the original thread derailer. Who even when confronted with calmness and facts is still kicking off?

It's the equivalent of telling Biden to stop calling out Trump for being full of shit.

Lockdown ending and football starting can’t come soon enough. I’ve just read this whole thread out of complete boredom like some housewife watching Eastenders. The drama and bickering is about the same level

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
There is an awful lot of "look at me, look at me" on this thread.

It's all rather sad really.

"it's all look at me" says the guy pulling out the tired and cliched "look at me" phrase "it's all rather sad".

Could we just calm down and look at the facts.

I started a thread about someone being on the news, advising people and businesses on how to deal with the issues of the pandemic.

I felt he had no right to do that as he is a fraud and a liar.

Someone got all angry about that because he met the person once and was a bit starstruck. This person then proceeded to make a load of daft accusations towards me. I pointed out that he was wrong.

That's all. Why anyone is getting their knickers in a twist is beyond me. There are hundreds of threads with way more vitriol, bile and downright nastiness to get angry about on this forum.

Confusing stuff.

Having read the entire thread, I’m struggling to see the lies and ‘fraud’ that BG is being accused of. It’s probably best not discussed in a huge amount of detail I suppose, for fear of getting NSC or specific posters in trouble for libel.
